Avios

Unread post by Kendhni »

Does anybody else collect these?

I have loads of them ... They used to be good for transfer flights but now that you have to pay for taxes and surcharges that is not a good use. However I have recently booked the Hilton at Gatwick for a night for 18500 avios points (a bit high but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick) ... and I earn about 1000 a month from erewards.

We had a long weekend in Paris going first class on Eurostar a while ago. Very nice. Have a good stash building up again now but no plans to use them as yet. It always comes as a pleasant suprise when I get around to looking at the account

We have a tad over 23,000 of them, seemed a good idea at the time ... not sure if or when we'll get round to doing anything with them though.

We have actually managed to use them for a flight to Miami and a hotel in London, but they are quite difficult to use for flights.

I usually use them for hotel stays in Southampton ( Hilton ) I actually preferred air miles as there was more choice but I'm quite happy staying at the Hilton and collecting the points cost me nothing so it's a bonus.

You should be getting a statement from BA's ' Executive Club ', or at least we are ...

I would have thought you would get a statement periodically Jack, I'm sure I used to and then I registered online so I now get my statement by e-mail.

Sorry I can't remember what I did but if you go to the Avios website and register I imagine there will be a FAQ section that will tell you what you need to know or who to contact.

Apparently if you do not use or add to the points in a 3 year period then you lose them.

I use my Tesco points to buy Avios points and have used them several times to book BA flights to visit my son in Luxembourg
