She became more and more determined to show off, and drank more and more, and ended up the evening by telling everyone that she was booked on a cruise to Switzerland! She said she had cruised to Switzerland before and it was so great she was doing it again! No, it wasn't a river cruise, it was P and O apparently!

I don't know if she's got a personal problem (although friends think that is highly likely) all I know is that people sit down in a group to have a drink and a chat - and madam swans along and butts in, but not 'joining in' and going with the flow (which would sort of be ok). This woman has to be argumentative, and the questions (in private) have been along the lines of 'who does she think she is' or 'what got into her' etc.
Hence, if and when I see madam again we'll hope to avoid her. Even her husband (or whoever the poor sod is who is sharing the cruise with her) avoids her!
