Don't be downhearted Romig. Perhaps Wina will pay on Tuesday.
I'm hoping so...I'm going to book the deluxe seats if so. :D
Booked for Tuesday, cost an extra £1.60pp for deluxe seats (includes choosing where to sit) but it's still cheaper than normal prices :D
Even better, so no need to get there early to get a decent seat.

What's the odds of some numpty being sat in my seat when we get there?

Always seems to happen to me when we go to the theatre, but come on....just how difficult is it to read an aisle and seat number???

That rather depends on whether or not it's dark in the cinema ;)

We saw it in London on it's opening night and we absolutely loved it. :D

We all agreed Anne Hathaway, whilst not the strongest of singers, gave the most incredibly emotional and Oscar worthy rendition of 'I Dreamed A Dream'. Les Mis has always been my favourite musical and whilst I agree you cannot beat the atmosphere of a live production, this film in my opinion comes as close as is possible to that same experience.

Saw it on opening night in Bristol, thought it was absolutely brilliant! I hadn't seen the stage show and didn't know anything about the story, but now i really want to go and see it in the theatre! I also bought the sound track, which is great, but the singing somehow sounded alot better when you could see it. Want to see it again now!

I did think the Thenardiers were preferable in the stage version. Baron Cohen to me came over as a bit foppish (which was probably the intent) whereas in the stage version he and his wife were truly rough and vulgar.

Pleased to see others have enjoyed the film too.

Went to see it the other week, and while it cannot compare with the Stage Show which I have seen twice and absolutely loved, I thought the acting performances from Hugh Jackman, Ann Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne were superb, and Samantha was fabulous in her first film. I missed the atmosphere of the stage show, especially when the whole cast & chorus sing which is spine tingling. :) I did shed a tear or two though! Have to agree with OBF in that the Thenardiers didnt do it for me, was expecting more along the lines of the stage show characters!

We've seen it twice on stage. Not sure that I want to see the film - some reviews were less than favourable. John says he wouldn't mind seeing it and I want to see Quartet - he's not keen - so maybe we'll go and see both. His verdict on Marigold Hotel was that it's a woman's film and he thinks that Quartet may be the same! I wouldn't say Les Mis was one of my favourite musicals. My all time favourite was when I went to see Phantom of the Opera just before Michael Crawford left the cast so we saw him and Sarah Brightman and it was amazing. The audience practically raised the roof at the end.

That's interesting. We're off to see Phantom at the Mayflower, Southampton, in February. It'll be our first Andrew Lloyd-Webber effort.

I'm off to see Les Mis tomorrow night with some girls from work (Andrew wasn't keen). I've not seen the stage show, but generally love musicals, so am looking forward to it. My daughter has already been with her uni friends and gives it a good recommendation, but says 'take tissues'!

Angela, we are going tonight, and I have my tissues ready....I've heard that the price of refreshments is eye-watering!

I enjoyed the Thenardiers. Helena Bonham Carter seems to have the monopoly on female character roles these days, and if there's ever a remake of Fiddler on the Roof I could imagine Sacha Baron Cohen in the Topol role.

PS currently listening Les Mis soundtrack on my iPad

PS if you think that was loud you should see the stage show - I loved the film, but the show still just has the edge for me - spine tingling

I too thought the film was fantastic & although I have seen the stage show in London I thought the film had the edge :D

Only problem was it took me ages to get to sleep last night as the songs were still going through my head :(

It seems some didn't like it according to this review :(

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film ... ables.html

I commented to R last night that I have never been to the cinema & known the audience to be so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop ... well you could when the music wasn't quite so loud ;)
