I presume the warders must have been distracted and didn't see anything. Perhaps it was an accident and he tripped over something. These things happen. I expect justice will be done and will be seen to be done. What an awful situation for the poor mite.

Could be self inflicted in an attempt to play the 'poor-little-victim-me-can't-get-a-fair-trial' card in the lead up to his trial.

Possibly, but it is well known that other prisoners not infrequently meet out their own 'justice' to persons who have committed especially heinous crimes. Mark Bridger, who murdered little April Jones, has already been on the receiving end of this.Kendhni wrote:Could be self inflicted in an attempt to play the 'poor-little-victim-me-can't-get-a-fair-trial' card in the lead up to his trial.

NSAM, you are probably correct but I remember a policeman friend of mine telling me a story about him accompanying a prisoner to court. Those appearing in court were transferred to a police station beside the court house and then moved between the two via an underground passage. During this transfer they were usually handcuffed.
During this process one prisoner apparently ran ahead of his police chaperons (the police were not unduly worried because both ends of the passage were secured), he then started banging his head off the walls ... apparently he gave himself a broken nose, lost a couple of teeth, a few other fractures and bad bruising. As he was brought out of the passage into the court he was a bloody mess and was screaming about police brutality right up to the point when the police pointed out the CCTV cameras at both ends of the passage.
However in court the chaps lawyer argued that the police didn't look after their prisoner properly.

Perhaps they should have taken the lawyer down to the corridor to see for himself (after switching off the CCTV cameras, of courseKendhni wrote:NSAM, you are probably correct but I remember a policeman friend of mine telling me a story about him accompanying a prisoner to court. I have no sympathy for the "justice" of the mob and and of those who have been convicted of 'slightly less heinous' crimes who think they can "Lord it over" those who they perceive as 'beneath them'.

Well, it now appears that other prisoners were not involved as five prison officers have been suspended while police look into the alleged assault. This just leaves 3 possibilities.Kendhni wrote:NSAM, you are probably correct but I remember a policeman friend of mine telling me a story about him accompanying a prisoner to court. 1: The Officers did indeed 'rough him up'
2: It is self inflicted in order to cause trouble, rather like the example you quote.
3: A combination of the two: i.e. the officers did overstep the mark, but were not responsible for all the injuries he appears to have suffered.

Oh, the irony of it... he brutally cuts a man's head off and then complains about losing two teeth.

Re: Oh Dear - What A Shame
On the face of it he sounds a pretty nasty and awkward character, no doubt backed up by a posse of lawyers looking to get some easy pickings at taxpayers' expense. I am always amazed that those who commit the most heinous of crimes squeal like stuck pigs the moment they are caught and enter the confines of prison.
