A few years ago I spent a week at The Rif Hotel in Tangiers where Winston Churchill stayed on more than one occasion.

Have stayed at the Highcliffe Hotel Bournemouth, before it was a Marriot and they had filmed Body in the Library with Joan Hickson there.

nope, but the college I went to in Hertford was used to film Foyles War

and my grammar school for 'P'tang, Yang, Kipperbang' - though it had been converted into a middle school by then

Ooh a bit of a sore point this. Did you ever see the Agatha Christie novel/film ‘Evil under the sun’. It was filmed in Majorca. When we were in Majorca with our boys I insisted we found the hotel because it looked so fabulous in the film and I wanted to stay there at some time. We were staying very near in a villa anyhow and off we set. I had the map and we drove in the right direction but reached a point at which we couldn’t go any further because of large gates. I insisted we tried the next turning because I was sure the hotel had to be around that area and although the road gradually got worse and worse and we were driving over rubble, I still insisted that we continued on and we drove further and further down this road which got worse and worse and worse until we eventually reached a LIGHTHOUSE!! It’s been a standing joke in my family since if we have taken a wrong turn or the road is extremely long. Some smart alec always says ‘I’ll bet there’s a lighthouse down here’.
However, we eventually found out that we had been in the right direction in the first place and the gates we had reached belonged to the hotel. It had a private beach and only hotel guests were allowed in. Apparently it was a great favourite of Michael Douglas who later bought a villa nearby. My husband and I did finally stop there for our 25th wedding anniversary but I’m NEVER going to live down the ‘Lighthouse’ though.

No I have never stayed in a famous hotel from food or books.

Those of you who know me, know I worked in the Hotel Industry before retirement and over the years have met many peopleo from Stage & Screen, TV and Football, most of who's names I have forgotten.

Most of the premier division football teams at the time, including the England and Welsh National teams, players and managers, including Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Sir Bobby Robson, Kevin Keegan etc.

Cricketers including Graham Gooch

Snooker Ronnie O'Sullivan

Politicians including Mrs Thatcher.

Film and TV actress Stephanie Beecham from Dynasty.

Many from the TV soaps, including the whole of the Holby City cast who were attending a wedding.

Plus many, many more

Anyone seen the film Munich with Eric Bana?

About the Black September attack at the Olympics.

Well, the hotel that was blown up in Lebenon was actually the Primera Hotel in Malta.
Not only have I stayed in the hotel but the actual room that Bana filmed in.

Obviously they didn't really blow up the hotel but is was a bit of a dump. May have improved it if they did !!

I will soon be staying at the Burgh Island Hotel where Agatha Christie wrote 'Evil Under the Sun ' and 'Then there were None' I'm really excited as I'm a massive Christie fan! :D Apparently Edward and Wallis Simpson used our room for 'quite' afternoons ;) but it has been refurbished and don't think much (if any) of the original room is left -looking forward to fabulous views of the Sea and some delicious Cocktails
