Car Insurance Rates Falling

Just been reading this and was wondering if anyone had noticed their car insurance rate had fallen since last year as I cannot compare mine until next March.

Knowing the way that insurance companies have operated in the past I an sceptical as to whether these reductions will ever get passed on to the customer.

Over the last couple of years my car insurance has fallen significantly .. however I htink that that was, in part, down to turning 50. This years insurance was down again .. despite a brand new car worth a lot more than my old car.

To give you an idea last year it cost me £397 to insure both my cars (fully comp, protected no claims).. this year it was £275 for both cars.

Mine came down in Feb by about 14%, but I did have to quote competition and the fact that I have been claim free for several years now and therefore quite a low risk.

Lady D's has fallen again this year, which considering she drives a Chelsea tractor is not bad at all

£240 and one speed awareness course later, he drives within the speed limit at all times! Needless to say, no matter how sick his patients are, they now have to wait.

Mine's stayed pretty much the same for the last two or three years, although I was quoted over £400 to insure a second car- that was worth only about £50!

SS, have a look at Admiral multi-car insurance. Compared with the individual quote price of my main car, adding my MG onto the insurance cost me well under £100

Thanks, Ken, I'll have a look at that in early 2016, when we'll be buying a new car and keeping our current one. For the moment, I went ahead and bought that moped.

We've got a renewal coming up shortly - currently it's done through the dealership we bought the car from. Must say though, Admiral used to do us a good deal.

Nope, he still has to abide by the speed limits - and most people don't consider a Hospice as needing a Dr urgently.

Reading Gills, story reminds me of years ago when I was working at a large supermarket as a teenager (trying to get funds to support me while at uni).

An electrician had somehow got sparks in his eyes and, at the time had been blinded .. his head had been wrapped in bandages. It just so happened that I was the only member of staff that had a car in work that day and they asked if I would run him up to hospital (the doctor said it would be quicker to take him to hospital rather than wait for an ambulance and time was of the essence). I stuck the hazards on and took off like a bat out of hell ... I blasted the horn to crawl my way through lights etc. (I know I shouldn't have and would have been responsible if there had have been an accident).

Eventually a police car came up alongside me and flagged me over. When the policeman came to my window I simply handed him my wallet shouted 'hospital' and took off again (leaving him standing in the middle of the road) ... the police car came up alongside me looked in the window, saw the bandaged electrician in the passenger seat and gestured me to follow them ... they took off up the road, at the next set of lights they had stopped the traffic to let me through, they then came flying past me again ... this happened for several lights and roundabouts .. when we came up against heavy traffic I just sat on their tail (BTW, talk of ignorance, several cars actually tried to block me from getting through, thinking I was trying to jump the queue).

When we arrived at the hospital there were nurses at the door ready for the chap. I then knew I had to face the music ... I got a right old telling off but the policeman eventually handed me back my wallet and simply told me to go on. The spark was left blind for several weeks but did eventually regain his eyesight.
