Unusual combinations

Unread post by ChesterfieldJohn »

Hi,

Just read on one of the posts that someone on here likes Spam and tinned tomatoes sandwiches.

I haven't tried them , but will now they sound good.

Does anyone like any other strange combinations?

I don't think I like any strange combinations, but do like a jam and banana sandwich.

Oh and much to the horror of my family I like raw sausage as well, as long as its a good quality one.

John, just a quick tip...the spam should be fried first!

Don't know about raw sausages though - sounds like a recipe for an upset tummy. I do like "uncooked" black pudding though....the butcher used to give me a piece when I was a toddler out shopping with my Mum...... Child abuse it's now called, I believe!

I wouldn't eat raw pork. No wonder the family are horrified, John!

Ground black pepper on strawberries is rather nice. We came across it in a Churrasco Argentinian Steak House in Germany. Strange combination but it works.

In Yorkshire they eat Wensleydale cheese with Christmas cake. Now that is odd!!

My eldest son's favourite Saturday night snack, after a night out, was Hula Hoops and salad cream.

My all time favourite sandwich is banana (mashed with a little milk) and cheshire cheese on whole grain bread and with cheese and onion crisps!

Even typing it makes my mouth water!

I used to eat raw pork sausages as well, Loved the taste but then got concerned about food hygiene issues.
It was great at a barbie ... as everybody else was waiting for the sausages to cook I had a hot dog made and eaten :)

CJ - As a youngster (many years ago :( ), my Aunties Shop was next door to a Butchers. We used to watch him making the sausages. To this day, I still remember him saying that we must never, ever eat the raw skins. I don't know why (far too young for it to register), but I've never forgotten. I'm still not a fan of the skin, even when it's cooked - maybe I was scarred fo Life with his words :?

Having said that, you did say raw sausage (not necessarily the skins). Maybe times have changed, who knows?

I'll take your word for it John ;)

I left the Football comment for you

As you are a connoisseur on Sausages, who makes the best Tomato ones since Farrows closed? They were good, but not as good as Haags (that's showing my age) :) Agree about W&B.

You think so? Google suggests sausages were first created by the Sumerians, modern day Iraq, and the UK does not figure in the top 3 European countries famous for sausages, Germany, France and Hungary.
