Graham - how can you possibly be on your "lonesome" when you have got us all around you?

giant - sending you a big hug...

don't forget we'll be here even after others think that you're ok - the immediate aftermath there's loads of people around and stuff to do - but later it gets harder.

feel free to come in here and sound off if necessary - we won't mind

Very true, and just "lub" being part of your smashing confection and all my "cyber" mates

But I have been surrounded by friends and family being very kind and understanding

It is only today reality has really hit home now that I am on my own

I do believe the greater the love you have for some one - the grieving is that bit harder

I do love Betty and her Wild Rabbit Pies :?

Graham, remember just how happy you must have made your Betty as well as she did you. Pass your time thinking of all the good happy times you have spent together. Keep her photo near, think of her fondly and often and before you know it you won't feel completely alone. She will be there sitting with you, just you won't be able to see her but you may feel her presence and grow comfortable with that. She will always be there in your heart as well.

Take care of yourself

Mavis x

Hi Graham,
My Manx friend just told me today about your sad loss, and Sue and I are so sorry and send our condolences, albeit belatedly. Will you carry on at the Tivoli?

Hello Graham,

There are no words that can really help you at the moment. You will have plenty of time to look back over your memories and remember all the happy and good times that you spent together. For the moment you can be sure that you are in all our hearts and thoughts.

Kindest regards

Robert

Well today I replicated our plans for this Thursday as highlighted on the much beloved's kitchen calendar

Bus to town, Costa for coffee, Bournemouth Pavilion for lunchtime organ concert, late lunch at Toby Carvery, home in time for a cuppa and Pointless, BBC 1

Betty would have enjoyed her day

It was a tad difficult for me doing it on my own, nobody to hold hands with as we did when ever we were out together, how bleedy sad is that :(

Lubooo all

. . . and thanks for your very kind posts

Please can you change that to: 'How brave is that?' Betty would have been proud of you. Pleased to hear you are getting back into routine, and nice to see you posting.

It's nearly 9 years since my dad died. There are many things he and my mum did together and, even now, it's still too painful for her to do them on her own. She has, though, started doing things that she's never done before, and thoroughly enjoys herself - but then she feels guilty.

Dear Graham, promise us you will never beat yourself up for enjoying life in the years to come.

One thing she did, which she found cathartic, was to write a book of her lifestory.

As has been said, you were very brave to "do" your normal Thursday. I applaud, commend and salute you, sir.

My jolly green giant buddy, am thinking of you and sending huge hugs. I think you are just amazing having gone out as planned, certainly not "sad". give yourself time, accept offers from friends and family to go out or share a cup of tea and also give yourself time to enjoy the memories of all the wonderful happy times you and Betty shared. Grief is such a personal thing and we all react so differently however you feel and whatever you think is right for you. There is that old cliche of time will heal and although the memories of Betty will never leave you the hurt you feel now will start to ease and in time the heavy heartache will be eased by the happy memories.

Much love Graham xxx
