I think we have stumbled on a space-saving solution: outside toilets!

For someone who hangs upside down for a living to talk about balance might be a tad misleading.Dark Knight wrote:oh sorry I was aiming for balance, rather than propaganda and dogma![]()
so it is another reason I wont be cruising with Princess or celebrity, if that it the size of the balconies, mugs, oops, people pay hundreds extra forok ?

That really is a pathetic excuse for a balcony.
Doesn't bother me though as I'll never be going on that ship or the new P&O ship.

I showed my husband the photo in the link, and without having read this forum (ever!) he said, " That's not a balcony, that's a ledge!". I think he'd fit in well here.

Shall we declare it a draw?
I was taught to be cautious

I think we could have them under the trades description act - call that a balcony? I had already thought that I wouldn't want to go on the new ship - now I know for certain.

Being a balcony-phile since our first cruise on the Dawn Princess, I am always surprised at the lack of use they get, that is apart from sailaways. Our experience is mostly in the Caribbean, were we will breakfast on the balcony, take a sundowner and the last G&T of the evening. Generally it is too hot to use it in port during the day even if in the shade as there is generally no breeze to cool things down.

Even a person of modest proportions would find it difficult to sit comfortably on the chair on that balcony. Certainly wouldn't be able to stretch your legs out at all

Even aircraft seats have more room than that. You could easily get DVT from sitting too long!

Absolutely. We had adjacent balcony cabins on C Deck with daughter and son in law. Got the Steward to open door between balcony's and had a fantastic amount of space. Lovely for pre dinner or any time drinks.Orpheus wrote:C deck on Ventura is a good size balcony.
Shame if the new ships are having mingy ones.

As I posted earlier ... ' one ' has to sit sideways like wot one does now on Adonia in reality.Gill W wrote:Even a person of modest proportions would find it difficult to sit comfortably on the chair on that balcony. Certainly wouldn't be able to stretch your legs out at all

The next grade below a balcony is an inside, so there are unlikely to be too many moans, but the inside cabins are 175 sq ft vs 174 for a balcony so you never know.david63 wrote:Just wait for the moans from those who get an upgrade to a balcony - they will be priceless

Are the ones on Adonia as small as that?

even with a small balcony it is so lovely just to be able to open the doors, let some air in and experience the sounds and smells of arriving in a new port.

The ' B ' Deck Adonia balconies are not large by any stretch of the imagination and especially not if your benchmark is those on ' C ' Deck on Azura for example but they are sufficient for most people's needs ... including ours.arcadialover wrote:Are the ones on Adonia as small as that?Manoverboard wrote:As I posted earlier ... The chairs seem a tad smaller and Adonia also has metal rails rather than a glass frontage so it is easy enough to sit at an angle with ' ones ' toes pertruding.
At the end of the day we do enjoy our balcony but would rather have the addition space in the cabin, idealy in a seating area albeit at the expense of a larger balcony.

maybe its just me, but if I had paid a much higher price for a balcony cabin, I would as a minimum expect somewhere 2 people could stretch out on the chairs/loungers without having to be a contortionist

half price fare/half size balcony
doesn't seem much of an incentive to book just to get a glorified ledge

After having Ventura & Azura C balconies I was a bit sceptical about going on Oceana as her balconies are cut out of the hull but I absolutely LOVED it BUT not the look of this one!

Now that I travel alone I book an inside cabin but when I did cruise x 2 and had balcony cabins, I found the largest balconies were on E deck on Arcadia. I wouldn't complain about an upgrade to any size balcony - unless it was at the very front of the ship.

Thank you for your reply. We are on B deck.
