Town are at Forest for our first game this season, our recent record there is not good, we lost 6-1 last year, we have to go back to 2000 for our last away win, so a draw is the best we can hope for.

Don't be so negative John. We're gonna win it! :D

Forest were one of the best teams I saw at Town last year, so a draw would be a decent result.

We had to go back over 25 years since our last win at Florist and we went there and beat them to get into the play-offs. Never say never.
Where's our Aldershot supporting friend?

I see Coventry are in deep trouble having gone into liquidation. Must be very depressing for their fans.

Not an easy match for you Mob. They will be really eager and full of running early on in the season. I expect your season will be interesting with the advent of Zolacoaster2.

Called in at the bookies yesterday. Found some generous odds of 100-1 for Huddersfield winning the Championship, but didn't fancy it (even as an each-way bet). Decided instead to go with the handicap, with 22 points start at 18-1. Went for each-way on that one instead.

Indeed...there have been very many kind tweets from Watford fans wishing him well and telling the Udds fans what a good player we have. Unfortunately we have a squad full of midfielders...we need a decent centre-half.

We got off to a winning start although we were poor in the first half. we showed more urgency in the second half and the goals came. I'll have to stay awake for the FL Show tonight - somehow.

Rest of the results Mob's lot and Bournemouth will be happy
Gillingham shared the spoils
but Huddersfield and Ipswich :(

A momentary lapse in midfield cost us dear..they broke away and scored. Fine margins make big differences. Next up (after Sadford in some pokey cup on Tues) we have QPR at home. I can see us being at the bottom of the league by next Sunday - but our opening was always going to be a tough one.

Well done to those who won yesterday.

Welcome to League One for the Gills & a reality check

Right back gets injured 10 minutes in and no obvious sub (said squad was paper thin, didn't I?)

A league debut for a 17 year old, up against Freddie Sears on the left wing.
Poor bugger was roasted for the rest of the game but the others stood up well until .............

.......... 89 minutes.

Gills attacking, lose possession and the rest is history

As Romig says, fine margins

Bring on The Wolves next week. That should be an easy three points ???? :moresarcasm:

Barney, we thought that Wolves would be very tough last season too....but they weren't. A club in freefall - you may find that you get a result against them.

They do and I wish the Cherries well, it is my genuine hope that they do not lose by more than four goals against the might of the new and improved Zolacoasters.

What is it with all these testimonials for high profile players? I quite understand that in the dim, distant past, players who had given long and loyal service to a club were rewarded with a testimonial to send them on their way in their new post-football life with a nice little nest egg. Fair enough. But why, oh why in these days of grossly overpaid "superstars" do we need to have testimonals for the likes of Gerard and Ferdinand who are still playing at the highest level and earn more in a week than many of us do in 5 years ?! Yes, I know most of them donate the proceeds to charity but, to my simple mind, it all seems a bit pointless and just another excuse to fleece the poor ordinary fan of his hard-earned.

Oh dear oh dear.

Well, we had a good day out and spoke to a lot of nice people.

Then the ref blew the blooming whistle.

Nuff said !!! Thankfully we won't be playing Wolves every week.

Doyle, Sako & Sigurdson ran us ragged

A nice 'easy' one against Brentford next week.

It's gonna be a long season

Oops, sorry Barney.

We had an unexpectedly decent result against QPR. We pretty well matched a team packed full of current or ex-internationals, and managed to score first - but were quickly pegged back for a 1-1 draw. Both teams had good chances to win in in injury time too! I realized we were in for a tough time when I saw the quality of their bench.... Shaun Wright-Phillips, Bobby Zamoura, Richard Dunne and Jermaine Jenas.

I note that The Hornet squeaked a narrow victory too. :D

Where is our resident Bournemouth supporter? You can come out now. We know you're hiding!!! GRAHAM!!!!

We have Leeds today in front of the Sky cameras. It's usually a decent match and they usually bring a good following so I expect there will be a good atmosphere.

No wonder you've been hiding!!!

We had a very exciting bore draw against Leeds - not! The goalkeepers had very little to do save wise although we did hit the post. Two teams who cancelled each other out.

Being a Huddersfield fan OBF I had to forego footy this evening as a certain team from somewhere north east of us also figured in the match, seems I did not miss much.
