Help .... I've just used ebay for the first time to buy some hair products and I'm not sure what happens next
I put the items in my basket .. ok so far, then clicked on paypal ..payment went through ok and I got a message to say the transaction was complete
BUT ... nowhere did I have to put my address details in for the company I purchased from .. do I assume as this is held by paypal that it is all done via them.
Sorry to sound so stupid ( no comments please ) but this is all new to me.
Paypal hold your address and inform the seller where to send your purchase. A good seller will let you know via ebay that they have sent your items and all you have to do then is wait for them to arrive.
Just a word of caution however when your items arrive check that they are originals - ebay sellers have been known to sell fakes.
Jo, when you registered with eBay I presume you gave them your address then so it would automatically go on the invoice. If you want to check go into My Ebay, Purchase History tab (on the left hand side) and you should see what you have bought. On the right hand side click on View Order Details and you should be able to see your order and your address.
You will also get an email from PayPal acknowledging your payment.
Thanks RP, I've just had e-mails from both e-bay and paypal, thanks for the tip about originals too, it is a product I have used for several years so will know if it isn't the real McCoy.
I assume going with one of e-bays top rated sellers is a pretty safe bet ..is it ??
I always have a look at how many reviews they have and the percentage of positives. It's not fail safe but it gives a guide. In all of my purchases using eBay I have only ever had one problem and eBay reimbursed me, albeit just for a few pounds.

I've just taken a look, plenty of reviews and positive feedback so feel much happier about that
No problem Ray, it's a product I've been using for years so know what to expect and will know if it is the real McCoy
I only looked elsewhere because the usual online company I order from direct have just hiked their prices up and I didn't fancy paying another £60 for the same products.
Fortunately we do have a shop in town who I believe do a very nice choice of wigs
I buy quite a few toiletries and beauty products on eBay, and make a saving over High Street prices.
Being a top rated seller itself isn't enough to guarantee a trouble free purchase - to get TRS status a business seller has to fulfil various criteria set by eBay, like offering free postage and packing. It's very much a marketing tool rather than being a reliable seller. Top rated sellers can still have some dire feedback
I tend to check the feedback and the star rating ( on the same page as the feedback) before I make a purchase.
Once I've received my goods, if everything is ok, I put the seller on my saved sellers list, so I can use them again.
eBay can be quite confusing when you start, but you soon get the hang of it.
My husband's nickname for me is 'The eBay Queen', as I'm always on eBay!
I've bought quite a few hair products from Ebay but I also buy from Cheap Smells, they are quite often similar priced to Ebay & they arrive pretty quickly (free delivery)
I had a couple of bad experiences with eBay, but my main problems came from Paypal. It's slightly easier to contact them now than it used to be, but when you send an email asking a question. having been through their FAQs, they merely send a reply referring you to those same FAQs and asking you to write with the full details that you'd just sent!
I found it telling that one of the predetermined reasons you can select when closing your account was "poor customer service".
Thanks Wina, I had a look and they don't do 1ltr size of the brand I use and 300ml works out pretty expensive regardless of where I buy from.
Thanks Alan, just what I wanted to hear what is strange though ( or at least I thought so ) I placed one order for 2 different products and they were invoiced as separate transactions.
Notwithstanding what I said earlier, Jo, I've just started a new account with eBay/Paypal. Hopefully they've got their acts together since I closed my last account.
I've just received my first two orders (since opening a new account) - a brand new pair of motorcyclist gloves and a used Goretex motorcyclist jacket. Both came very quickly indeed, and the communications with both sellers were good and friendly.
As Gill says, the vast majority of people using eBay are great, but there are a couple of numpties who sell pirated goods or cause other problems.
i have purchased and sold over 250 items in 4 years have 100% feedback and only once did a parcel not arrive
i ordered something from China by mistake got a refund no problem
i have since purchased from many countries and no problems at all
Same here HAB. I've had one or two things from China and had no problems at all. I have picked up some great bargains plus many items I have been unable to get locally.
Pleased it worked out well for DQ.
When I was the manager of a charity shop, we were donated six commemorative plates for The Darling Buds of May. I could not find these anywhere on the web so didn't know what they were worth. I didn't want to spend a fortune listing them, so stuck them on with an opening bid of 50p, strictly buyer collects.
One person bid 6 times - obviously keen on getting it! He was the only person to bid, and so won the auction for 50p. I was worried when I saw he lived in Bournemouth but he was happy to drive up to get the plates. As he handed his 50p over, I asked, out of curiosity, what his maximum bid was.
£110.
Wouldn't you have thought that, as it was for a charity shop, he might have handed a fiver over out of goodwill?
I had been wanting a white dinner jacket but refused to spend £150 for something that would only be used once or twice a year.
I spotted one on eBay it had no reserve and it was brand new the shop was closing down I watched it closely the bids went up to £20 I waited and waited till the last seconds and bid £50 I won it it cost me in the end £24.50 I had a lovely email from the shop owners asking me what size trousers I was.
Because I paid them straight away they gave me a pair of formal trousers for free they both fitted a treat
