Derek - I also abhor tailgaters, it is such a dangerous practice. But what I want to know is just who are these bad drivers? I have read many posts on different forums about bad driving but every person participating in the discussion is 'not guilty'. I have a zero tolerance of bad drivers and would have them off the road in a nano-second.

Derek - there is no such thing as
all roads have a speed limit - whether that particular road is activly controlled is, however, another matter.non-speed control areas

Drive down any road at any time of the day and you will see a bad driver
obviously we don't have many on this forum
I would think most drivers at some time or other have made a poor decision that doesn't make them a bad driver though, just one that didn't read the situation right at the time .. it happens, I appreciate it can also cause accidents but unfortunately the perfect man/woman doesn't exist.

A poor decision is one thing but it is the dangerous drivers whose actions are not a mistake, are those who need curbing.

It is a well known fact that bad drivers, and parents with unruly children do not use the internetMo2013 wrote:But what I want to know is just who are these bad drivers? I have read many posts on different forums about bad driving but every person participating in the discussion is 'not guilty'.

I am prepared to take "that chance" for a a minute or so to remove myself from tailgaters and then be able to move in to allow them to pass and then probably tailgate another motorist ahead. Slowing down to try and pull-in ealier would only infuriate the ignorant/arrogant tailgater further although I recognise that in some instances it is better to 'slow out of danger' rather than 'speed-up into danger'.
Yes, I have made a few poor decisions (sometimes forced) but I do not drive aggresively ie tailgate, flash or honk other drivers in anger (unless they are making a manoevre into your path and they clearly haven't seen you (although it is better to brake gently and let them pass) and respect urban and village speedlimits. Also off main roads in town I drive at 20 or under in residential and school areas.

Re: Lane hogging
I just popped into town so thought I'd put it to the test to see how many bad drivers I came across, I'm pleased to report .. just the one .. white van man who made an illegal right turn to access the bypass, he obviously wasn't going to wait in the line of traffic up to the roundabout and then come back on himself.
As I went round the roundabout there was a police car waiting to go across, what a shame they hadn't been a couple of minutes earlier
never in the right place at the right time
