Re: Memories for the old 'uns
I think Zoonie was the name of the lazoon (happy to be proved wrong) - XL5 was one of my favourites too. Thre was also Space Patrol (don't think that was a Gerry Anderson production), Supercar, Stingray (as has been mentioned already) and Thunderbirds. From then on, Anderson's creations went downhill for me.jacksparrow wrote:I cant remember much of it but there was zoonie who used to say welcome home....
Anyone remember Vendetta? The Andy Stewart Show on New Year's Eve was required watching in our house (couldn't stand the man, and apparently he was hated in his native Scotland), as was anything with Kenneth McKellar.
And whatever happened to Ivor Emmanuel?

Always had Andy Stewart on on New Year's Eve.
Used to love Take Your Pick and Double Your Money - I wonder what they'd think these days of winning 10 shillings - not a lot I guess. And all the women looked like Ena Sharples. My mam was very glam in comparison - although my grandma did look rather like Ena Sharples lol.

Oh God, I remember it all, specially the bit about having to ask to get down from the table
What about Cremola Foam - anyone remember that?
Fast food - I think I once had a Wimpy. otherwise it was when my Mum did Baked beans on toast quickly.

Crumbs, I thought I was the only one who had Cremola Foam! Used to be fairly common in Glasgow in the early 60s, but only saw it once after we moved to Bournemouth. My father refused to buy it for me, said it was only fruit squash with bicarb added.lioness wrote:Oh God, I remember it all, specially the bit about having to ask to get down from the table

And Wimpy - you used to go in and get proper plated meals in there! Remember those long bent sausages with cuts down them? Last time I had that was in Leighton Buzzard in 1977.

We were talking about cremola foam only the other night and one of my mates assured me you can still get it ... don't ask me where though.
I remember making the poor mans version ... you took a bottle of flavoured Quosh, added water and then put a teaspoon of Andrews liver salts in it .... mmmm frothy man!

Re: Memories for the old 'uns
football boots with a lump of wood in the toe, 10 yards of lace and nail on studs which became lethal weapons when the leather in them shrunk, exposing 4 sharp and pain-inflicting weapons.
Outdoor loos at the bottom of the garden.
Buses with conductors and a ticket machine.
Men whistling on their way to work.
The days before "If it's not out we haven't got any." I think they called them stockrooms.
Going to the corner shop with a jug for beer for your dad. I don't remember binge drinking then or excessive drinking amongst teenagers.
Having my first (and last) Park Drive (cough! cough!)
