Talking with some folk it appears that Celebrity do not even allow e-cigs on balconies.

I suppose this was a reasonable strategy a few years ago when they were known as the virtually non smoking cruise lines. However, they will know feel the cold wind of competition as so many other lines have banned balcony smoking but not to the draconian extent of Celebrity.

If only John, I have plenty of willpower but fail miserably when it comes to giving up smoking, even the e-cigarette didn't work for me, you are right though you have to want to stop, I never used the e-cigarette as a means to stopping just to cut me down, I was probably hoping that it would stop me and I'm sure it does work for some, just not me but maybe I'll try again with it !!!

A little research on an American forum has answered the question as to why Celebrity have banned e-cigs

"I can see why they are not allowed. Someone would be smoking a real cigarette, and then also have an electronic one. When approached they would present the electronic one and claim that is what they were smoking. I have seen it done in stores and restaurants. The odour from the real one gives it away, but the smokers will hide the real one while doing that.

So the only sure way is to not allow any."

Don't dismiss it without trying Derek, one of my husbands customers gave him a couple of bottles of Aldi wine ( he'd already had a sampler ) he didn't tell me where it was from because he knew I would empty it down the sink ... how snobby is that yes I will admit I buy from places like Waitrose, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbugs because I think I am getting a bargain if a bottle of wine is £10.99 and on offer at a fiver .. the Aldi wine which I think was either £2.99 or £3.99 was excellent, I'm obviously not the connoisseur that you are but I know what I like and it was perfectly acceptable

Back to topic - good for you batty - I carry an e cigarette with me now but sadly still use the cigarettes - do find it quite heavy to hold when using.
