Kendhni, could you not give your ticket to a fan who would obviously appreciate it more?Kendhni wrote:Those are what is known as 'slow news days'.The Monocled Mutineer wrote:Sometimes even the wretched game of football is the lead item on news, as well as other sports, for what appear to be fixtures that are endlessly repeated every year.
To a certain degree I would agree with you when there is obviously many important things going on around the world that deserve more coverage ... it used to be limited to 5 minutes towards the end of the news but it has crept in to overtake the content ... probably cheaper to edit and produce .... we now have sports channels that provide 24/7 coverage.
The irony is I have access to 'boxes' in several top stadiums within the UK and occasionally get invites to functions during/after matches that sometimes has included the management and players post match ... I have absolutely no interest in football and usually spend the time propping up the bar ... much easier to get served while the game is onMy neighbour who usually gets the passes was talking about going to watch his favourite tribe, Arsenal, playing towards the end of October .. he thinks he can get a couple of tickets to the VIP area (he can watch while I prop up the bar).

CJ, I suppose that is a possibility, but the usual procedure is that Julie, my neighbour's wife and the wife of the other person who accompanies us anticipate an afternoon of London shopping while we are at the match and that leaves me with only a few choices .. cancel totally in which case Julie would not get shopping which would also probably mean no conjugals for me for the next decade ... go shopping with the girls, but Julie does not like me shopping with her since I would have too much say over use of my credit cards, and she can only tolerate my bored look for so long ... OR tolerate a couple of hours of football while enjoying the free hospitality ... I consider the last option to be the lesser of evils (especially since I can read the paper while watching which is infinitely more enjoyable than shopping with Julie).
