Re: Christmas Puddings
We buy luxury ones from M&S, keep them an extra year and then inject brandy into it/them prior to use ... works for us and saves faffing about making them.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Re: Christmas Puddings
We've got to make one (and a Christmas cake) in November in Florida (or rather, the Lady C has) for our daughter-in-law. Apparently they don't do such things over there.

It has to be said, we normally go for Mr Tesco's finest, but the DIL wants to start a little cottage industry making British cakes etc

Re: Christmas Puddings
Puddings and cakes are made in October; usually 3 puddings, (one of 2lbs for THE day and two 1lbs for other special dates in the year), and 6 cakes................ 2 large and 1 medium, X 2.
Mincemeat is made late November early December. Rum truffles as near to Christmas as possible, otherwise they don't last!!!!

Wouldn't know where to start making a christmas pudding. Friends of ours bought one from Aldi last year which had got top marks in various magazines and it was the nicest one I have ever had. Will definately buy the same this year if they do it, otherwise it will be a M&S one.

I've finished mine as well and for the simple reason that I have no intention of doing any.

Re: Christmas Puddings
I have a kind offer to make re Christmas this year. I am prepared to arrive at any one of your houses, along with husband, children and dog and share your Christmas meal. The 4 Christmases we have spent here on the Isle of Wight have all been disastrous and I am now afraid to stay in my own home
2009 - youngest son spent Christmas Eve at the hospital with tonsilitis which his sister also came down with on Christmas morning. No dinner was cooked.
2010 - a double whammy of the water going off Christmas morning and the oven going bang halfway through cooking the turkey. Boiled gammon and mash.
2011 - Manflu struck husband and eldest son. No dinner cooked
2012 - invited elderly neighbours round for dinner. Dennis was viloently sick all over himself and the table during the starter which started a domino effect of vomiting amongst the other diners. Dinner was eaten 3 hours late and most of it was left.
Ok, who wants us then?
