Arter. Don't know if he played yesterday?

At 23 years old, he's already had the highs and lows of a footballers life.

At Charlton from age eight. Released at seventeen. Fell into non league. Bournemouth took a punt on him. Now talking of move to West Ham.

Do you think you can hang on to Vaughn?
If he keeps scoring like this, the Prem boys will be sniffing around
Hi barney, Harry Arter played yesterday, and in keeping with many of the team looked useful. I think that the drop into non-league will have served him well, as I think it can reignite hunger...and make players more appreciative of their position.

We have Vaughan signed up on contract, so I see no reason why we would have to sell him. However, our Chairman has often stated his pragmatic opinion that all players have a price...but that price must be to our benefit before we consider selling...witness our selling of Jordan Rhodes last year for £8mill.

Hogg is a quality player and Watford will certainly miss him, our loss is however your gain

Today we gained a 1:1 vs Forest which will do nicely, we need to avoid losing all three points to the top sides but either way we have made a much better start than we did last year.

Next up are ... the Cherries

A day of mixed fortunes for us today. For a long time we trailed 1-0 to Blackpool but 2 goals in a minute put us in the lead. However we were pegged back to 2 apiece in injury time. We didn't play well in the first half but picked ourselves up in the second and it turned out an exciting match full of incident.

Disappointed we could have had all three points but a point away to a team right up there at the top has to be a good point. Best chant of the day when the home fans were leaving in their droves before the final whistle 'Is there a fire drill? Is there a fire drill?'

Mob's lot have gone rash haven't they? 5-1 away at Barnsley.

Newcastle 2, Hull City 3...the BiL's will be insufferable tonight. 7 points from 5 matches...are they safe yet?
One day P&O will cruise out of the north.....

0-0 for Town away to Blackburn.

I reckon that has to rate as a decent point - especially cos it moved us up a place in the table!

The day further improved when I saw our dirty neighbours along the M62 had lost to Burnley...with a Town reject scoring too!

Foxy, I've just read that Leics have signed Taylor-Fletcher. I was very disappointed to see him leave Town for Blackpool, and reckon you've got a decent player...so long as his 32yr old legs keep up with the pace. I wish him well - apart from against us of course.

Woe,Woe & thrice Woe.

The wheels have well and truley come off after our brilliant last season.

We'll have to trust Mad Dog to galvanise the troops and come back fighting.

Fortunately, he does seem to have a fair bit of past experience of hanging around the bottom area (ooh err!) so it's a bit early to panic.

It's gonna be a long hard slog.

Last season we were played 7 won 7 - this year, zilch with more or less the same team. Figure it out ????

Taylor-Fletcher isn't a bad signing at all. When he played for Blackpool he was always a threat, but never an obvious one. He will provide us with a bit of experience and could prove to be a shrewd signing.

It was also nice to see the Blackpool fans applauding him when he came on as sub which goes to show how much they respected the man.

A good point for Huddersfield last night against high flying Blackpool although it looks like they should have taken all three points had it not been for the penalty miss. Huddersfield seem to do well in grooming goal scorers. They sold Jordan Rhodes who was prolific for them and now they have James Vaughan.
Meanwhile we have hunted around for a 20 goals plus striker, bought Chris Wood who was scoring for fun and seem to have coached the goals out of him. I wonder what Huddersfield's secret is.

We've got Barnsley this afternoon which is a potential banana skin. I think we lost to them last season having beaten most of the top clubs. O the joys of following a football team.

Well, I don't believe for a single moment that Blackpool are going anywhere at all other than down the table, Ince Junior is a one man team and the rest of them are either has beens or won't be's.

Blackburn are not a major problem for us I suspect ( fingers crossed ) but the team we need to be very of on October 5th is Romig's Huddersfield Town with their new and improved Watford style line up.

I have been keeping a watch on Blackpool who have been quite a surprise package for me. At the end of last season they lost a lot of players either out of contract and not wanting to re-sign or through transfer. They have a chairman who keeps a tight rein on the purse strings, a source of great annoyance to their supporters. I believe they have spent very little on the team Ince has assembled so they have made a good and surprising start to the season, much better than I thought they would. As Mob says, whether they can maintain it remains to be seen especially as other teams work them out.

Surprised at how poor Bolton are. I suspect Dougie Freedman is on borrowed time. Pity really as he took Beckford off our hands!!

Last night's point vs Blackpool is probably one we would have taken before the game...and definitely after a dreadful 1st half. We do try and play 3-5-2, but good as it can be when teams let us play (eg Bournemouth), our players fall short of the required forward passing ability needed from the back when the opposition crowds midfield and closes down well. That has often led to us reverting to 4-4-2 in games, which has generally brought an improvement - as witnessed once again last night. A missed penalty later in the game means is was definitely 2 points dropped.

Ince looks a good player (and din't display too much of the greediness with which he is often tagged), and Ricardo Fuller has been there - done that over many seasons....he remains a handful. Like Moby, I'm not sure they will be up in the top 6 at the end of the season.

I see that Leicester and Watford managed a win each - and Leeds lost again, which also cheers me no end!

I think that Dougie Freedman or Dave Jones at Sheff Weds will possibly get the chop within a fortnight.

How about this for a fact?

Clough been in post since Jan 09...

"He had been the fourth longest serving manager in English football, behind Arsene Wenger, Paul Tisdale and Chris Wilder, and the longest in the Championship"
