Whey Hey Hey !!!

Hoo-bloomin-ray. At last our first win.

I went up there for it (sad I know, but Mrs Barney was working) .
A long drive to Crewe from Kent but worth it for that performance.

In Mad Dog we trust

To be honest, it could have been seven or eight nil.

Bring on the MK Dongs

Paul where are you
Hello Graham, I hope you and the Ferrets are bearing up. Paul hasn't featured on here since one of our fellow members treated him like a child. Sadly I don't think he'll be back anytime soon. One of my Facebook buddies is in contact with him so I'll try and get a message to him for you. Not a football chap as you know but I'm rather pleased about the good start that Hull City have made to their season.

Yes, I remember that ... none too clever but very easy to bypass by using the ' Foe ' option.

It was however on a Political Topic rather than a Footie one.

So ... another reason could be that he can't take the inevitable banter about his beloved, and Championship League bound, Palace. ;)

Hi, Paul ... where are you ?

It's looking very much like they will be back to the Championship next season - but millions of pounds better off and with parachute payments. Meanwhile the rest are restricted with FFP. That looks like an anomaly that needs rectifying if we are talking of a level paying surface. I wonder how much longer Holloway can hang on.

Cheers Foxy

It looks like your lot or MoB's could well be taking Palace's place.

I feel a bit for Holloway to be honest. Over achieves with a relatively mediocre side, gets them to the 'Promised Land' and his reward is probable unemployment.

It just shows the fickleness (is that a word?) of it all.

Gills won league two at a trot last season but a poor start in the league above and some are calling for the manager's head.

Total madness in my book.

Ollie should be given a fair crack of the whip.

Sometimes it takes a while to get accustomed to the pace and the physicality of a new division. Look how many premier teams struggle when they come down and how many promoted sides also struggle. Sometimes it's down to over confidence or fear. However all is not lost. There are still plenty of points up for grabs - and plenty of time to put a good run together or fluff it - just as we did last year!!! :(

Only once in our illustrious history have we been relegated to League 1 (the old Div 2). Our manager on that occasion was ......................... :lolno:

Some of his decisions during his tenure were questionable at best and ridiculous at worst. Even so we bear him no malice. I believe it upset him as much as it upset us. :(

Careful what you wish for DK

I thought Clough did a decent job considering what he had to work with in a small provincial team.

I sometimes wonder what chairmen expect. Miracles ????

Many football fans were not even born the last time Derby tasted success.

Another poison chalice due to over expectation ?

Think Leeds, Pompey etc. Wouldn't wish that for my club.

As for favourite manager in the Prem ?

Wenger due to the attractive style he likes to play

Least favourite is Big Fat Sam. Mr Negative (& boring)

derby have been a victim of not thinking big enough, they are a financially sound club with minimal debts and did very well out of the promotion and parachute payments, but did not invest when they got promoted, so came down quicker than a lead balloon
unless they start to set their sights higher, they will always be a mid table championship side

I suppose that if survival in the Premiership is the goal, then teams should go for it.

Personally, I'd hate to start every season hoping to just stay up, because like Coventry, your luck will eventually run out.

You then find yourselves millions in debt, trying to sustain the 'dream' of not getting spanked too badly.

Waht I love about my club is the total unpredictability of every season.
Going up, going down, who knows?

In about the last ten years, every game has actually meant something. No mid-table obscurity for us.

We had five years in the Championship and it nearly bankrupted us. Players wanted 5 or 6k a week and Gills just couldn't sustain those sorts of wages.

I'm quite happy now in League 1 which is as I see our 'natural' level. (League 2 is dire to be honest)

But the Prem? Hopefully not in my lifetime.

Mr David Moyles - 11 years successful Everton FC manager

One of his ambitions was for Everton be above Manchester in the Premiership

Looking at the Prem tables David's ambition has at last been achieved

Today we were beaten by a better team. Although we took the lead, we conceded immediately, and then gifted a winner after our keeper spilled a easy free-kick.

A decent first half, but Watford were very comfortable in the second half, and showed us how to pass the ball.

Not too downbeat - it was our first home defeat of the season after all.

Foxy however won't be too pleased going down to an OG :( but interestingly their next game is also against the Udds, on the 19th Oct.

Watford were good in most departments -but the strikers were different class. Troy Deeney was a real handful, and put in a big shift, whereas the little Argie (forestieri) was excellent at finding and making space. His volleyed finish for the equaliser was great.

Who was it who said 'footballs a funny old game' ?

Just like busses, two wins come along on the trot.

Mind you it was the kind of game that shreads your nerves

Two (yes 2) early penalties and cruising. MK Dons have a man sent off and then ... they get two goals back.

Thanks to half time we re-grouped and got the winner half way through the second half.

The end of the game is nigh and more or less fizzling out and the 4th official holds up 6 minutes ????
Where the bloomin hell did they get six minutes from ???

In the end, we hung on for dear life and I needed to go straight to the pub after to recompose myself (my story anyway)

Feel like I need a holiday !

Hi all , new to the Forum and for my sins support the Blues of Birmingham. We were our own worst enemy yesterday and gave away two stupid goals , but we did not play very well anyway, having scored 11 goals in the previous 3 home games it was back to normal !

Hi gpr. You have our old, old manager. You seem to have some decent players (apart from Lee Novak who i think is a league above his ability level). Best wishes for the season (apart from against the mighty Terriers, of course).
