To be honest, we were disappointed with our Christmas dinner on Aurora last year. Lukewarm and uninspiring.
Must have been first sitting QBob - they were saving the best for last. I confess I can't remember a lot about it after a long, boozy lunch but I think ours was OK

Nope, second round so you'd think they would have got it perfect after the practice go. Not much turkey,I can't even remember the bread sauce, or even if we had any, and only two sprouts (thank goodness). I'll stay at home this year and get the best Christmas dinner ever

I'll find out who's asking the questions and send them some of mine, just for you. Think of it as a Christmas present. :)

Iv hosted Christmas lunch every year since 1975 !!
Between 4 and 10 people..... depends who is going where.
But this year.........there will be 14 of us... 8 adults..6 children (three in high chairs, three under 5's)
So we are going out for the first time ever !!!!!
We have booked a table, with 3 high chairs..in a local restaurant.
We are all meeting at ours at 11.30 to walk to the restaurant, weather permitting. Lunch is being served from 12.30.
Then everyone is coming back to ours...to open pressies and get drunk !!!
We will get more company, brothers and sil and their off spring too,so about 26 of us in total for afternoon tea!!!!
We will have a few adults and grand children sleeping over..then about 20 in total for lunch on boxing day, meat and home chips!!!!
The next few days are similar.......until 30th December...when for the first time ever we are going away for 4 nights to Scotland to see in the New Year at a fab hotel. The family are not very happy , as we have always had a party. But hubby and I are doing a runner....... not back till 3rd of January!!

You seem so much like my youngest sister who has 4 sons all married and has 10 grandchildren. They all descend on her at Christmas. My sister absolutely loves it but my brother in law keeps begging to come to us. I can't think why.

Hubby, son and I are booked in at Taybarns (a buffet restaurant). We have eaten there for Christmas for a number of years now. Hubby enjoys a Christmas dinner where as my son and I don't. This way we are all catered for. P.S. I'm a rubbish cook

You'll certainly have plenty of choice at Taybarns - my son takes me sometimes to the one in Wigan and I come away so full (having tried almost everything) I don't eat for the rest of the day

I’m not particularly fond of “all you can eat restaurants” (Chinese) as I generally go in feeling hungry but come out feeling physically sick. The amount of food some families pile onto their plates is enough to put anyone off their spring roll.

Perhaps I should go up market and try Taybarns?

This Christmas will be spent at home with my sister and her family...six of us + two dogs

Regards

We have been doing the same for many years. Will visit relatives on Christmas day for the traditional fare.

On boxing day we meet up with my siblings and their families at a local hotel for a few drinks, a slap up meal and a lot of chat and catching up. I have already booked the table (this year there will be 15 of us) ... it is great that we can all spend the time without worrying about cooking and cleaning up etc.. Quality family time ... which, for me, is the real meaning of Christmas.

I love cold turkey and mustard sandwiches with home made bread (not bread maker), and cold turkey and jacket potatoes, so once the lunch is over my taste buds really start to get going. I have been making the Delia Smith Christmas Cake recipe for the past few years and we can usually make it last well into January at a slice a day each.

Off to a hotel for 3 nights with hubby, Mum and the 2 dogs.

No cooking or washing-up - just eating, drinking, dog-walking and relaxing - bliss :D

Mind you, I will be cooking a small turkey crown when we get back - just so we can have all the leftovers.

But I can't think about Christmas at the moment - I have a cruise to pack for
