Packing Cubes
Anyone had any experience of using packing cubes when travelling? Are they any good? Are they worth having? Any particular make to avoid?

) I am referring to the plastic type of container that you can put clothes in within your case

I haven't seen or heard of them David, do you have a link, always interested in anything that might make packing easier.

Re: Packing Cubes
Chums from Canada have been using these, or similar, for years.
They believe that it keeps their packing totally organised on coaching trips and dead easy to unpack on cruises. They do however tend to use very large cases on their travels, in part because the system doesn't work so well for them with smaller cases.

Re: Packing Cubes
i can see some usefulness , if you were on say a multi centre holiday or one where you move around from hotel to hotel, but for most one stop hols, they seem more trouble than they are worth, they look similar to those vaccum bags that people use to store quilts and blankets etc, maybe they would be equally as good and take up far less room?

There's no weight in a vacuum, everybody knows that.david63 wrote:But wouldn't the vacuum take up a lot of space/weight?![]()

Ok, silly question - what about creasing? Currently I pack with tissue paper - and it works a treat and weighs virtually nothing.

Thank you David. I've just had a quick look at the website. I'm a hopeless packer and I like the look of the compression bags. I might give them a try.

Re: Packing Cubes
Yes we have tried them, but gave up because they add to the packing and unpacking time, and interleaving with tissue paper as suggested above was good enough. They do add a bit to the space you need. They would be more useful if there was more drawer space in the suites (cabins) because we tried lifting them out and putting them straight into the drawers, and we quickly ran out of space.
Keeping an open mind though.

Julie, acquired something similar a few years ago ... quite honestly a waste of time and money (for us). If you intend to take flights also be aware that they add a small amount of weight (0.5-1kg for a set).

Re: Packing Cubes
Tried the packing cubes and they are not much use, but the Eagle Creek shirt holders are great

Re: Packing Cubes
Well we got some cubes a couple of weeks ago and whilst they are OK(ish) they do not have the "wow" factor so have resorted to plan B - those nylon perforated washing bags - set of 3 for £1.85 postage paid from Honk Kong off Amazon

Re: Packing Cubes
Been using these for a long while. Excellent just unpack the packing cubes so the suitcases can be put under the bed and then unpack the packing cubes as and when you need the items in them. Makes life easier for me at least.
