ipad update

Unread post by Stephen »

Anyone else updated their iPad to iOS 7.0.2 yet.

Not sure if I prefer it or not. Certainly different.

Mrs63 updated hers a few days ago and the thing that I have noticed is that it seems slower and the wi-fi connection is less reliable

No problems with me either.

But my father is not so keen on the update on his ipad, he prefers the previous version (it's an old duffers thing :D )

I don't suppose this latest update can be reversed/deleted to the previous version can it.

I do not think Apple supplies a downgrade option.

Officially no - but Mr Google will show you how (personally I would not unless you know exactly what you are doing otherwise you could end up with a non working i-pad)

Yes, I've updated my iPad2 and I hate it. There is no going back. Apple are so arrogant that you will have to like it or lump it. The new 'skin' is very difficult to read, full of childish colours and pencil-thin icons. They look like they were designed on an etch-a-sketch. The whole thing looks like it came from Fischer-Price or The Early Learning Centre. I'm not letting it anywhere near my iPhone 4S even though it has already downloaded it without my approval and clogged up nearly 3Gb of storage.

Wouldn't that involve a jailbreak?

One other thing I have noticed and found a cure for with this new update. When looking at the front page apps, they look as though they are floating slightly, which to me looks weird.

I found this on Google which relates to the iPhone but the fix works on the iPad well. I've just fixed mine and now all apps are solid on the screen.

It's a personal thing, but I prefer them stationary. Anyway the link and the simple fix instructions (if you don't already know how) are below.

http://gigaom.com/2013/09/27/is-ios-7-m ... ax-effect/

To disable parallax in iOS 7, simply navigate to Settings, General, Accessibility and turn the “Reduce Motion” option on.

Yup, did all that including 'increase contrast', 'large fonts' and 'bold text' and I still hate it. Pale grey text on a pure white background is very hard to read and does your head in.

I've updated both the iPhone and the iPad and so far okay - it certainly looks different but I'll get used to it  I have disabled the screen sign on on the iPad as that was driving me crazy.

I upgraded a couple of days ago.

As I had been away on Azura, I didn't realise it was a whole new version. I thought it was just a normal update. So I was horrified at first that everything had changed.

But I am getting used it, and it hasn't caused any problems

Have upgraded 2 x Iphone plus an Ipad (my old Ipad 1 will not update), did not like it at first, but if you make the background a dark colour, it does look a lot better, and you do get used to it :-)

I am an old duffer and I love the IOS7 especially on the IPad which I am typing this on. Had no problems downloading it, I love - swipe up for control centre & carousel tabs and swipe down for scheduled events, and the new layout.
If you don't like the movement on the locked screen, you can turn it off.
There is a very good app, called IPad secrets, especially the Pro version, which covers IOS7. At least with the latest downloads it should extend the life a bit longer of the older versions, although I have the 4th genereration with the retina screen, which is brilliant for photographs. :D

Yes, I 've got the 4th generation too, and as you say Delboy the photographic quality is excellent. Sharp as a razor. I just wish it had a zoom facility.

Strangely enough the car is going in on Monday for a service might just mention it but since I did the software re install it appears to be ok
