We have come back today from the Arcadia 24 night Black Sea Cruise and one of the first things I did was to log on to the forum - I will look at the post and bills tomorrow!!!! I just wanted to catch up with the forum and was horrified to read that David is uncertain about the future of this forum. Please, David, don't pull the plug - I would have to start watching the total drivel on the TV in the evenings if this forum disappeared but I would quite understand if you made that decision - it must take up quite a bit of your time. I have also appreciated the advice from people and the friendliness of the forum.

Thank you for all your efforts, David.

I have been out this afternoon so I have only just caught up with what has been going on and my initial reaction was to "pull the plug" right here and now.

I will sleep on it.
I can quite understand your anger but the cause was no more than the bigoted ramblings of one person (now thankfully banned). Please dwell on the messages of love from every other poster on this thread !!

I wonder if only one person was banned, it must have included others in the postings that were pulled surely?

Two sides to every story.

This thread is about the way forward not dwelling on the past, that is done and dealt with.

Lovely to see this great forum, is moving forward and long may it continue.

Thank you David.

Been away on a cruise for the last 18 days so only just catching up with things but my vote is for you to keep this forum going, as long as the cost and effort is not a problem for you.
Like others I also drop in on other forums but I find this forum to be the equal of Cruise Critic in most things and even superior in a few others; and that is a genuine compliment since I believe that Cruise Critic is the benchmark that all other forums should aspire to.
As regards expansion, I think I have been in the vanguard of promoting other cruise lines according to a number of other members, so I would certainly welcome the broadening of the cruise line base.

The way forward.....
It was a disappointment when P&O pulled the plug on the community forum on their site, the big thing going for it was the fact you could post online whilst onboard a cruise with no Internet cost.
For many to hear about what and where the cruises were from those onboard was a big part of the community.
I do hope the forum does continue and well done for you to take the initiative to launch it, but I fear without the affiliation with P&O it may not get the uptake and contributions to be a dedicated P&O forum

I have just been looking at the P&O Facebook page. If P&O think that is the way forward instead of their forum they need to look again. The number of moans is incredible. I was surprised to see one person denigrating P&O when she used to be such an enthusiast. Don't think she posts on here at all. I can't believe the P&O hierarchy think that Facebook is a good advertisement for P&O. There is no room for any specific questions on particular aspects of cruising whereas this forum offers all that anyone could want - in my opinion.

I too look at Cruise Critic and I don't think it's a particularly good forum for P&O passengers. There are very few posts. I suppose it is good for looking at other cruiselines if someone is thinking of going with someone other than P&O and it has good information about ports of call but if I had to choose between that and this site I would definitely go with this one.

Thinking about it I believe that the way forward is for people to continue to offer all the help and advice that they do at the moment and if someone thinks of a good topic for discussion then don't hesitate, post it. David has already included sections for other cruiselines which will help those looking at other companies. Long may this site continue as long as David has the time and enthusiasm to continue.

Lots of peeople who were regular P&O passengers are saying they are going to other companies. We are still happy with the onboard product, despite the differences we have seen, just hope things don't decline further.

I'm only an occasional poster but I too would miss this site very much if it were to close down. My active involvement increases as my next cruise nears and I find it really adds to the excitement to be able to chat with other people going on the same voyage.
By the way - no one has replied to my post about my Arcadia cruise next year (see Arcadia cruises 2014). Does that mean I'm not in 'the clique' or just that no one else is going? I'll keep checking in and hope there will be some response nearer the time...
But seriously David, your efforts are very much appreciated. Don't give up on us!

I have just come back off a cruise and admit to not reading all of this thread but have to say please keep it going. I think that it is a valued asset to the cruising community.

Firstly - thank you for all your messages of support.

Now I have some good news, and some bad news.

The good news - having had a few "sleeps on it" I am going to keep the forum going (for now anyway). As you will have noticed I have have added a new section for "Cruise Lines" which basically is just splitting the Other Ships forum down into the relevant cruise lines. This should help to make the site a bit more all encompassing whilst still maintaining the P&O bias. I have also added a quick link to access "Cruise Reports". If anyone has any other suggestions, either now or at some time in the future, then please do not hesitate to raise them - preferably by using the Forum Suggestions forum.

The bad news - all of the Moderation/Admin teams have indicated that they are willing to continue - just as long as everyone behaves themselves, so you can all put your pens away as there will be no applications forms available

Hi David,

Adding a new “cruise line section” might be “good news” for some, but for me it just means I’ve got to scroll further down to the games section. If you are the decent man I think you are you’ll provide a quick games link for keefy and his mates.

Btw...I don’t know if I’ve told you this lately but you’ve always been my favourite poster...honest! :)

Regards

Keith

Thank you very much David. I'm so pleased this site will continue - it would leave a real gap if it went. Oh, and thanks to the Moderators too - hope you won't be kept too busy!

click on the +/- sign to the right of the section titles. Then you can bypass those you don't need much more quickly
