Unusual Place Names
On a recent trips I spotted these names
Pratts Bottom (Kent)
Worlds End,again Kent
Devils punch bowl Hampshire I think
There really are some strange names about sure that there are loads more
Would be nice to know how these names come about

Near to us we have ' six mile bottom " 'reach' , ' hellions bumpstead' and the gog Magog hills, ( apparently gog and Magog were two giants who had a fight and threw some large mounds of earth around thereby creating the hills !

There's a great list here - aparently 2 have been made up in order to stop people copying the list
My favourite is Scratchy Bottom ... I shall now go and check if that's a real one or not!
