Solar Eclipse

Just found this. For you lucky ones who are on holiday shortly.

This affects holidays on both sides of the Atlantic, but there is an eclipse of the sun on November 3rd which will be either partial or total depending where you are on a line crossing the Atlantic from Dominican Republic to Central Africa. People holidaying in the Caribbean, Canary Islands, Cape Verde will see a partial eclipse. To find out which areas will see an eclipse and what percentage of the sun will be blotted out, use this interactive map,

The link will allow you to click anywhere along the line of the eclipse (and either side of it) to see what you might see. If you are on Holiday in any affected area, make provision to see it safely with eclipse glasses.

Hi Peter,

Due to cash flow problems I’m going to give those destinations a miss this year but I'm hoping to be around to see the UK’s near total eclipse in 2015.

2032 could go with a bang as scientists have spotted a gigantic asteroid heading our way.... don’t panic there’s only a 63,000 to 1 chance of it ending up in our back gardens.

I believe that Ventura sails from on 1st November, so should be in the Atlantic on the 3rd. What a sight to see, an eclipse from the top of a ship.

I for one would love to be on her when the eclipses takes place.

I think I was about 9 years of age when I first saw my first (I think) total eclipse. Can’t remember where I was at the time but I do recall how everything around me seemed to fall silent, quite eerie in fact.
