The sale of our gold reserves at a low price didn't help either.

I'm not complaining - I count my blessings that (a) I joined the Local Government Pension Scheme (b) I was born early enough to claim my Old Age Pension at 60 and (c) that my dear husband provided for me after he passed away. No sorry no complaints from me except for the silly amount of tax I pay  Don't waste your tears on me DK ;)

That's only half the story, you should see our food and wine bills ... now, they would bring tears to your eyes.

Moby
I long since realised you are very much in the upper echelon of the pensioners and I salute your years of toil and graft which allows you some comforts in your dotage

but spare a thought for those on here who only get 1 holiday a year in an inside cabin and can only shop at waitrose and M&S . I weep for them, I really do

Too true Moby, I wish Tesco would stop sending me their 'special offer wine' online ...how can I refuse when they give me an extra 15% off and free delivery

anything that keeps oldies indoors and not under my feet , as I keep them in the lap of luxury, is fine by me
the way technology is going, one day they will never have to leave the house...........hopefully 8-)
