Homeopathy
I was listening to 5live yesterday and they had a lady on with cancer who had decided not to undertake chemotherapy but to go for homeopathy.
Now my wife has had quite a bit of this sort of treatment and it has never appeared to help her at all.
I know that it can help things like eczema, but I wondered if anyone had been cured of an illness such as cancer by homeopathy,
or do they provide false hope to people in need?

Re: Homeopathy
Hello John. Quite a number of years ago Colin was getting fed up of all the migraines he was getting. Medications from the doctor were no use and he was sometimes two or three days in bed in the dark bringing his insides up with severe migraine. Somebody suggested that he went to a homeopathy lady and, reluctantly, he did. She was fantastic and she did clear him of his migraines. He hasn't had a bad one since seeing her. She took down a lot of details first about his life, family, health etc and then gave him some tablets and told him to take them over two or three days. He went back to her again and she gave him some more tablets in case it came back again and told him to keep off mints and coffee. I threw these tablets out about a month ago!!! He hasn't needed them and has never looked back since going to see a homeopathy lady.
Now, I wouldn't like to say it would cure serious illnesses and, quite honestly, I might try it for some but wouldn't stop the doctor's medical knowledge and treatment.
Hope your wife is doing OK John.
Regards

Re: Homeopathy
Regarding a cancer tumor in its various forms it is surely the case that Surgery, Radio and / or Chemo may or indeed may not save a life in the short or longer term but a bunch of weeds n herbs etc in isolation stands no chance whatsoever.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Re: Homeopathy
For minor ailments there is nothing wrong in trying homeopathy and I am sure that once in a while some will gain some benefit for various reasons including
- it is used as additional to prescribed medication (and not in isolation)
- many peoples bodies would have cured themselves with or without medication
- placebo effect/mind-over-matter
- it is just possible it works in a small number of cases
However anybody relying purely on the likes of homeopathy or other 'quack' cures for serious illnesses is a fool ... you may as well strip off and dance around a camp fire while whipping yourself with laurel branches and chanting to summon the powers of the healing fairy.

Re: Homeopathy
I was encouraged years ago by a friend to try Homeopathy. The woman I saw didn't charge for consultations but her 'medicines' cost a fortune. She claimed she had cured someone of cancer. When she told me she could cure my son's deafness I decided to give up on her. Her 'medicines' didn't cure my ailment either.

I'd agree with what's already been said above. I'd try natural remedies for mild, non-life threatening conditions if I didn't feel I was getting the benefit from conventional medicine. But for something such as cancer I'd stick with the mainstream experts. Only if everything else had failed and I was on my last legs might I visit the witchdoctor!

Re: Homeopathy
I have just come across this discussion, and given both mints and caffeine are known to precipitate migraines in susceptible people, I would suggest that his avoiding these may well be the main reason that he has had no further attacks.mavismumakrill wrote:Hello John. The important thing though, is that he is now free from the migraines - how it was achieved is a secondary consideration.
