Snow - Hibernate or Celebrate
Come on then what do you think of all this snow ?
Do you love it or loathe it ?
Is it just nice to look at or do you get out there and enjoy it?
Everyone in the family the same or is it just you?

Re: Snow - Hibernate or Celebrate
It's quite happily go without it personally. Don't Mind it day 1 (as long as don't need to drive anywhere) but once it's either slushy, hard or gritty it's a pain in the a*se.
We're quite lucky in that work, shops etc are all within walking distance but getting to elderly parents (who tend to worry at the sight of the first snow flake) can be an issue.
Mandy of course loves it, always hopes for a white Xmas etc. At the sme time, like most ladies she hates the cold so go figure !

I don't mind the snow it's the ice that follows, after last years little "episode" when Keith slipped on ice I've become paranoid ( no comment required menace lol ) just started snowing again here.
I've got some cracking photo's from 2 years ago when it was 3 feet deep in our garden, once I've figured out how to put pics on ( could be 2020 ) I'll post them.

Re: Snow - Hibernate or Celebrate
I really do love it. It makes the countryside, the trees, the fields, the hedgerows look so beautiful. We had a red sky one afternoon last week and everything took on a beautiful pinkish hue. And have you noticed how snow dampens sound down. Everywhere is so beautifully quiet.
True it's a pain in the neck for driving everywhere. If we had enough of the stuff we could drive on snow chains. As it is I am happy just being out in it as much as possible.

I love it if I havn't got to travel - driving in snow just sends me into a major melt down or should that be thaw down
We live in a close with a few kids of varying ages so snow equals snowball fight - well it has to be done.

I'm happy to stay in when it snows and enjoy it from inside.
We have been pretty lucky and only had a couple of inches at most...already cleared the drive today, and hoping to miss the next batch Sunday night.

Re: Snow - Hibernate or Celebrate
It's a disaster for me..... Not easy to get out in an electric wheelchair and I lead such a busy, active lifestyle this weather makes life very difficult. It does seem funny when schools etc all have to close down for a bit of snow. We had to walk to school however deep the snow was (and it was outside loos that got frozen solid at school as well then). Why does the country seem to come to a standstill???? It used to be that those who were out of work had to turn up with their own shovel and clear the snow to get some benefits. Nowadays it is beneath their 'human rights' to do any snow clearing or suchlike.... Also they are too compensation minded now if anybody falls in the ice or hurts themselves if they clear snow.... Stupid Rules Gone Mad!!!!

Re: Snow - Hibernate or Celebrate
Mmmm agree Mavis, Junior's school was shut at 12 yesterday but they did say they would keep the students until the end of the normal school day for parents who work etc. but the problem here is a lot of the teachers live a long way out of the area and we had a lot in a short space of time and unfortunately more forecast for us tomorrow. OH always clears our drive and the pavement and road outside our house. Interestingly our local council sent a note around about snow clearance because exactly as you say people are concerned about clearing snow from outside their house in case someone slips and try's the stupid compo claim, but the council said there is no comeback on the person who clears the snow it is down to the person who slipped. So get clearing folks

I HATE IT. Luckily we haven't got any this time. It is very cold though but the roads are not icy.

I really thought we had got away with a tiny bit of snow, until today
I shall hibernate today and if it carries on snowing like it is I doubt I will be going into work tomorrow.

Not a drop of snow here. If you want clear snow-free roads come to Cumbria. Anybody want a sledge going cheap!!!

I'm expecting a phone call at about 6.30am tomorrow - from one of the chaps at work explaining how the pick-up won't get him to work on time!

I hate it too, especially the driving in it. Luckily for me though, I've been on a weeks holiday from work this week and have basically hibernated. Back to work on Tuesday though but am based in the shop in my own town (I work in a betting shop), rather than another town where I usually work - so it means I can walk to work.

We’ve had about 7in here on the Worcestershire/Warwickshire border with more snow falling as I type.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say I celebrate it but it’s lovely for the children.

I'm the only one in our family who hates the snow but then they weren't brought up in South Wales, then East Anglia, where we had tons of snow every Winter and had four horrible brothers who would stuff it down my back.

Dot, I'm glad that I'm not with my brother today as he would still do it!
