Oh no.. No cheese and biscuits!!

Unread post by JenniC »

Just had my usual cursory glance at the P&O FB page and still the same old moans about prices.. It will never go away :tired:

BUT I was gobsmacked at the passenger who flew back with Thomsons and had no cheese and biscuits in her box (shock horror ;) )and despite asking the stewardess to get some they did not arrive, although I am she probably forgot and I a polite reminder would have worked.

She could not find anything to moan about as her cruise was brilliant... So clearly this was the only negative - seriously - post this on FB - perhaps a compensation claim is on the way! :sarcasm: what is the going rate for a packet of airline cheese and biscuits?

I have stopped looking at the P&O fb page. Moaners on the ships are bad enough for me, and on our last cruise we had the misfortune to have a balcony next to a couple who were members of an on board protest committee. They moaned the whole way across the Pacific, sorry to say they dont live far from us either. :lolno:

the Pando FB page is hilarious and shows just what a bunch of selfish ingrates some people are
the biggest topic is plated meals and how it is going to decimate people's cruises
one particular idiot was thinking of cancelling a worldie, coz the meals were no longer "silver service"
given the current state of the planet and the terrible happenings abroad recently, this particular moron should be told to donate his fare to the appeal fund for the Phillipino families effected by the recent disaster
typical middle England muppet

And let's not forget all the "Butlins at sea" comments from those who cannot come up with anything better

Pando would be better off closing it down as it is a terrible advert for the company

The plated meal gripe astonishes me too.

Silver service is, these days, a rarity on land at anything other than a mass catering function.

I've been to a few Michelin-starred restaurants and in every case the meals have been plated - beautifully arranged by the chef to ensure consistency of appearance, quality and quantity.

I think the majority complaining about it are probably those who like to get their plates piled high with vegetables and then leave half of them!

But no cheese on biscuits on a flight? Now that is a serious matter. I think the sacking of the head of catering at the airline would be the only just sanction, possibly followed by a public flogging.

I expect most of them are southerners. Half of those from 'up north' have travelled so far they are just grateful to have arrived and the other half are so exhausted by their journey down they no longer have the energy to moan. (finds tin hat and joins Onelife in his hideaway)

The moanalong forum is a deeply depressing place to be.

What - all this fuss over cheese and biscuits! We flew with Virgin Atlantic, and paid through the nose for the flight upgrade.

There wasn't the priority checkin etc., there wasn't the priority baggage reclaim - and most importantly the special diet request which we made (and had a copy of the request being responded to that it would be available) wasn't available during the flight. We were told that we could either eat the wrong type of meal or go without (LAX to LHR).

We have flown extensively with VA and never known them not have a separate check-in for Upper Class, though I do agree priority baggage reclaim, especially at LHR and LGW can be patchy.

Surely, if the meal isn't loaded, that is the fault of catering at LAX?

" Excuse me Gas-On, my Coq au Vin hasn't got any chicken it it " ... has a better chance surely

Nothing. except they keep making 'jocular' remarks about southerners, and expect southerners not to get bored at the hilarity

Hi Gill,

I've put it down to experience - neither of the two flights came anywhere near the level of service which we should have enjoyed, and there is absolutely no way I'm ever going to travel with Virgin again.

The only thing which went right was the cruise itself - once we got to the ship all was well, and the added bonus of making some truly wonderful cruise pals.

We've got another fly cruise in the pipeline, and we are not flying with VA.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe we've been lucky, but in over 50 VA flights, about 75% of which have been in Upper, we've never had bad service and certainly in the past 5 or 6 years had nothing but truly excellent service.

Hopefully your next flight will be what you're hoping for.

Hi Gill,

It's an outing with our best cruise pals, and they are very fond of one particular airline, so to placate them we've booked with their favourite airline. Besides which, this airline will let me have my choice of seat numbers now, which means everything is done and dusted except for the one way car hires, which I can sort out in 2014.

Mind you, you can't beat sailing out of Southampton, and if things go right I might just cruise out to start the cruise holiday (or cruise home afterwards). Give me Ocean Terminal any day!

Don't you mean 'bas'? One catches a No69 'bas' as opposed to the local 'chara'.

This knotted hanky lark - exactly where does it get worn (as opposed to where does one wear it)?
