Fray flipping Bentos

Unread post by gfwgfw »

Morning all

Last night for a quick meal I found a Fray Bentos steak pie hidden behind a stack of kitchen rolls

Just the job I thought

But could I get the fricking lid of using two different good quality tin openers

Baked Beans as a last resort . . . ring pull lid no problems

Some bubble packs are also a pain, is it just me :?:

Not it's not just you GG.

Some modern packaging was clearly invented as an entry test for the SAS.

The other bain of my life is sticky labels. I just bought one of those bottle shaped bags in which to place the gift of a bottle for my bessie mate. It took me ten minutes to get the bleep bleep price label off!

Merv - Sticky Labels are easy to remove using this ... it's available from your local Hardware Store else Amazon but can't see the price of ours cos there's a label stuck over it that I cannot remove

ps ... nail varnish remover sometimes works.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Eeeeeee Graham, Fray Bentos pies. That takes me back. You can't beat a bit of gristle and puff pastry

Have a gander at the official Fray Bentos face Book page. No, I didn't know there was one either, i'm just trying to stop you from resorting to ferret stew ;)

Thanks for the tip, but we've got some of that. The problem with my purchase yesterday was that basically it was an impermeable label stuck onto a paper bag! The chemical attack on the glue couldn't be launched until the impermeable layer had been manually removed and then the chemical was all ready to soak into the paper bag and ruin it!

Honestly I think the manufacturers of these labels have a mission to defeat the makers of the anti-sticky chemical and survive a direct nuclear hit. There are very good easy peel labels available. Why don't they use them?

Hi gfw,

The things I find difficult getting opened are breakfast cereal packets...not the boxes the bags that hold the cereals. I tend to use the two handed, finger and thumb approach but more times than not end up tearing the packet in frustration.

I know it makes more sense to use scissors but I see this as giving in to something which shouldn’t be that difficult.

Regards

Keith
