Weekend away.
We went to Poole at weekend as my wife's cousin is emigrating back to St Helena.
We had a 2 night stay in the Premier Inn at Holes bay and found the room we had was very clean and well maintained. Also the staff at the on site restaurant were very polite and efficient and the meals we had all of a good standard. We have never stayed in a Premier Inn before and if anyone on the forum is looking at going down that way I would recommend it which is the reason for the post.
We also went to the museum at the quay and had a couple of hours in Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Re: Weekend away.
Sounds a nice weekend, I love walking along the Quay in Poole, just a shame Poole Pottery is now such a commercial outlet. Premier Inns do seem to represent good value for an overnight stay. We stayed at the West Key one before the Grand Event last year and very good it was too

Re: Weekend away.
We stayed in a Premier Inn close to Oxford at the end of September, the room was everything we expected and larger than other budget hotel rooms. However the food on site was not very good. I think they have a few food outlets running their restaurants and they all differ in quality.
We would break our journey to Southampton there again in future but would find somewhere else to eat.

. . . . and I bet you found us Poole Bay dwellers very friendly
BTW, there is another Premier Inn within a mile of Holes Bay, unbelievably sited next to the Boroughs Mega Sewerage Farm

I think among the budget chains Premier are probably the best. We've had pretty grim experiences of Holiday Inn and Travel Lodge.

Apart from the lack of a trouser press (which I've never used), I can't see any difference in quality between Premier and Hilton. Premier is a lot cheaper.

For 20 years I worked close by and where the Tesco's is was our sports ground. The smell of stale cabbages was quite yuk!gfwgfw wrote:RB1961

Poole Quay is second only to Cowes Parade in my affections.
