Cruise Community - The friendly cruise forum...
... and the best around and so young.... ok so at the moment it is more general chat as people get to grips with it (which is easy) but as more people join we will find cruise help, reports, blogs etc. I will definately report on my upcoming cruise on Feb 1 (Ventura).

I think we are all behind David 100% in making this forum the best there is and early indications are that it will be

Only problem is that we won't be able to access it for free while we're on the cruise

Wina G - Very true, but my guess is P&O will ditch the forum anyway, as someone switched the light on in the IT department recently and they realised they are losing Internet revenue by people using the forum to KIT with home. So in that case hope Smurfie can be persuaded to make this perm - it is good, it is quick and it worksWina G wrote:Only problem is that we won't be able to access it for free while we're on the cruise

Ah well, not a problem for me as I have defected to Cunard and one of my "perks" is 8 hours free internet time plus OH has 8 hours too so I will be able to sit on my balcony with my ipad and see what you are all to ( sad or what !! )

But doesn't that only show P&O that their Internet service is too expensive and so 'no one' uses it. It's about time they added it to the benefits of the Pennisular Club.JenniC wrote:Wina G - Very true, but my guess is P&O will ditch the forum anyway, as someone switched the light on in the IT department recently and they realised they are losing Internet revenue by people using the forum to KIT with home. How many sea days do you have to have done to get this perk?
Don't think Cunard are the only ones who do this perk either.......

Re: Cruise Community - The friendly cruise forum...
I'm not sure Melsea but I think it is 250, we've been sailing with Cunard since 1994 but had a ten year break from them 2000 - 2010 so I was quite surprised to find we had kept the loyalty level we were at then.
I think Celebrity are another line that give internet time.

I have to agree the 'perk' which we enjoy (same as DQ) is the free internet time when we are onboard. The 8 hours just about suits us too.

Crikey Em I didn't realise you had done that many sailings with Cunard.
We met a lady at Xmas ( first met her on QE2 in 94 ) then lost touch a few years ago, she has never sailed with anyone other than Cunard and has done 9 world cruises + others, she was telling me she is a Diamond member twelve times over, unfortunately she doesn't get any extra "perks" for being so

Hi Jo,
Yip - and we are still in there and going strong. Must admit though we don't use TE and TV that much - firstly the novelty has worn off, secondly the food is just a bit too rich for us, and we don't seem to enjoy more than two courses, thirdly our very favourite waitress has jumped ship to have a baby - so that particular perk isn't used really nowadays. The other thing of course is the dreaded free wine tasting. We did them and then decided that the best part of the free wine tasting was the cheese and nibbles ...... yes, I know we are awful but we like it.
Along the way we've gained some nice new friends and have done cruises with them, and have more to look forward to this year. It's just a nice feeling of 'being at home'; and it's great to catch up with various people on board.
I think we've decided which is our favourite ship, and which is our favourite accommodation - but there's still some research and experimenting left to do (well that's my excuse anyway).

Re: Cruise Community - The friendly cruise forum...
Just to correct what I said above, I was just looking at my cruise personaliser and clicked on the loyalty page, it is 150 nights not 250, I thought Em must have been on a secret worldie to have clocked up 35 weeks with Cunard in a couple of years, I was getting a bit envious thereDancing Queen wrote:I'm not sure Melsea but I think it is 250, we've been sailing with Cunard since 1994 but had a ten year break from them 2000 - 2010 so I was quite surprised to find we had kept the loyalty level we were at then.

Or of course you can rise through the tiers by the number of voyages taken instead of nights on board.

Very true Gill, we have some American friends who basically only ever do transatlantic, it is how they get France to visit their parents as they don't fly.

Did we have a vote on it being friendly or was that a management decision foisted upon us humble users?
