Why are our country sending £21million to Syria for humanitarian aid when our own country is in such a bad state????

Possibly it is the difference between real genuine poverty and hardship versus what passes for poverty and hardship in this country that often seems to mean they can't afford to top up their mobile phone or the kids have to share a bedroom or the internet connection isn't fast enough or the kids had to make do with chips from the local carry out again or the exhaust bore on their chav-mobile isn't wide enough.mavismumakrill wrote:Why are our country sending £21million to Syria for humanitarian aid when our own country is in such a bad state????
Personally I think we should cut back on the aid sent to India since it is now one of the fastest growing economies and should be able to look after its own.
Overall 21million is not a large amount of money to help millions of people. It is also a game of politics whereby the government will be hoping to make a lot more money back once Syria stabilises and they start looking for contractors to help rebuild. Think of it as an investment!

Complete lunacy by a government so far removed from reality it's really scary......They have just made a few thousand soldiers redundant as well and we are to send 350 odd military personnel to Mali...barmy or what...fewer soldiers and yet another war zone to 'police'....Why can't we just keep our noses out of other peoples problems...mavismumakrill wrote:Why are our country sending £21million to Syria for humanitarian aid when our own country is in such a bad state????
But its okay for British people to have to go to a food bank and beg for food so they can have a bite to eat..but there ain't no real poverty in the UK.....

After many years of sending aid to countries like India and Brazil, now their econmies are booming, perhaps we should press them to do the same for us
