Thats the one!! Lovely chips in the restaurant  but phoney Christmas everywhere I looked. Sue and I used to go to the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Wendover when we were first married, and we were in the Bell at Aston Clinton the night Henry Cooper put Cassius Clay on the canvas I worked at a flight simulator company we were doing the Lightning fighter simulator, and had just begun the TSR2.

We went to that garden centre a couple of times in the run-up to Christmas, but we were only based at Halton for four months so didn't get a chance to explore the area fully - we moved to Uxbridge on 20 December 1988.

Lots of associations with Stanbridge, Halton, and Uxbridge....but no I wasn't in the RAF. I played cricket with a Warrant Officer from Halton Peter 'Doughey' Baker. a useful medium pacer who could move the ball about a bit. They say the Halton apprentices were the best the UK ever turned out.

Sadly not. However we hope to meet in the future. after all,

Without friends life is a dessert.
Without friends our hearts are dry
Our friends are of the angels,
they are with us; laugh or cry.

I just made that up, but its true.

Well,I didn't make it to Carols on the Green - apart from it being heavy rain, the Lady C came home from work not feeling well and has just been having a technicolour yawn :(

Thanks, Kazie. She felt much better immediately afterwards, but is feeling a bit dicky again. She's phoned her supervisor to say she won't be in tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a 24-hour bug.

cars full to the brim with stuff bringing students home, driven by mummy who hasn't driven on a motorway, sionce the last time she took her darling child to Uni
streets full of people dithering about , with no clue what they are doing
shops full of numpties trying to find some tat to buy, to appease the marketing people
streets infested with out of tune "charity" muggers. who think I should give them money coz they have a stupid hat on or are dressed in a rented "xmas" outfit

oh yes the xmas money generating machine is in full flow....HUMBUG to it all

Outside lane is populated by arrogant minor company execs in BMWs etc., all breaking the speed limit, tailgating, and with so much mud on the rear number plate that you cant read it. M3/M25/M40 last Thursday. Where are all those Police Interceptors we keep seeing on TV? Its beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Why is it you almost never see a sensible, careful BMW driver? I knew a couple of men - really nice guys, but get them behind the wheel of a BMW and they changed into complete prats.

a close second are young women....sitting in the middle lane on the phone
Van drivers are a close 3rd
at this time of year mummy and daddy ferrying their student offspring home in can so full they cannot see out of the rear window

btw BMW stands for Bimbo's , Morons and W**kers, coz that's what the majority of them are

It is of course a generalisation. apart from the BMW drivers, they are muppets
I have the option of a Merc next go round plus all the above
I could happily drive a Merc but will never ever be seen in a BMW
