Re football in general:

I do find some of the comments by managers (and indeed fans) highly amusing in relation to the bias with which they view matches and incidents. At Huddersfield, I call it the "Blue and White striped glasses syndrome"...there are several fans who sit near me who appear to don them for watching the match.

As such, I like to read a more impartial view of the match, and compare it to those from within the two clubs involved,

As an example, read this report from yesterday's Town game.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25275042

The BBC impartial report tells of a game that Huddersfield should have scored in and perhaps won.

Robins (Town) reckons we should have had 2 clear penalties (none of which were even mentioned in the report).
Adkins (Reading) reckons his side could have scored 3 or 4...which funnily enough is the same number of chances mentioned in the report - only one of which ended in a shot on target! He omits to mention that by using the same "logic" Huddersfield could have scored about 10!!!

Another example yesterday... our centre half (Lynch) was up against a big and tricky opponent (Pogrebnyak). As such there were a few tussles, and fouls both ways. In the second half, following another foul, Lynch was called over to the ref (I thought he was to be booked). The ref made it clear by pointing to areas of the pitch where he had committed fouls that he was on his last warning before a booking (Good refereeing IMO). A few minutes later, Lynch again challenged the big Russian, but on this occasion used his arms to grab him...with the inevitable consequence of a yellow card. Obviously half of the fans near to me couldn't accept that it should have been a yellow card and it was all the ref's fault of course!!! Do these people actually have a brain???

Towny, I was texting my friend (a Reading fan who couldn't get to the game) during the match. In the second half I told him we were never going to score yesterday...it was simply one of those days.

I agree that had vaughan been playing, we would have scored one or two of those chances.

How much do you want for him cos at the moment we couldn't hit a cow's backside with a banjo? Nugent's off form, Wood's injured and Vardy now carrying a shoulder injury. The rest of our 'strikers' are mediocre at best. We are now interested in Sylvan Ebanks-Blake who is a free agent but maybe he will look to bring in a loanee if we are to maintain our promotion challenge. Last year he did nothing and we faded badly. Meanwhile Cardiff brought in a quality striker and maintained their grip at the top of the table.

Being in 3rd place in the Chumpionship I suppose I shouldn't grumble, but we could be so much better given we have never been run off the pitch and have failed to put good chances away. I often feel though, that we bring in proven goalscorers and it's not long before we coach goalscoring out of them. Some teams seem to be able to pluck a good goalscorer from nowhere.

Romig, you're right about newspaper reports. It's easy to see where the bias lies and I feel sure that for most of the reports they don't actually have a reporter there but rely on agencies who sell a report. However some just read what is on the internet and make something up.

According to Robins, and our chairman, Vaughan is not for sale, but I suppose if someone offered silly money they might have a change of heart.

I can sympathise with your comments about coaching goalscoring out of players, many's the time we have watched a new player have a fantastic opening game only for some wag to comment, "not worry we will soon coach that out of him".

Next up at home is TWWTB's team, surely they are a due a poor performance.

My view of the Watford game was that the idiotic blind as a bat linesman ruled our early goal offside when it wasn't ... and all the Hornet's confidence drained out of them when shortly afterwards they went a goal down to a well taken free kick.

The useless ref has therefore spoilt our entire Season

Couldn't get any more impatial than that, now could I

Derby are on a good roll at the moment. We had an absorbing game yesterday against Burnley who played good football and always looked a threat. However yet again we created a hatful of chances but didn't have anybody clinical enough to put them away. We seem to play well until we get sight of the onion bag and then suffer a Specsaver moment. I suppose one point was better than nothing.

Don't mention Watford!! Never mind, we lost to them as well. Connor Wickham seems to have hit a purple patch. Not a good day for Romig's Huddersfield either. :(

But I see the Gills picked up a point. They really need a win though.

Any more results we are looking out for? ............................................ ah yes, Frank's Luton who had a day in bed yesterday.
We all laugh at each other at derby,Leicester and forest but the teams are so much alike.we can all on our day beat any team at the top but when we play a team that's at the bottom, well that's another story!

AWWAB?

Fings ain't goin' right for Watford at the moment. I always rated Zola as a manager but you never know what was going on behind the scenes. They played some good attacking football under him last season and started the season well, even without Vydra. They're on a bad run at the moment but very surprised he has thrown the towel in. I wonder who they will replace him with?

I thought young Cloughie did a good job rebuilding at Derby and they are just beginning to reap the rewards.

Young Cloughie has many fine qualities but unlike his Dad he didn't have a Peter Taylor alongside to help him achieve the credit and success that he undoubtedly deserved.

Now as for Squalking Olly .... eeee izza notta onna de lista

We ground out a hard fought win. QPR are a good team but we defended well and hit them on the break. It was a dogged performance although we could have easily won it by more had we taken two easy chances.
The Rams are on a good run, and only 2 points behind us now so we're going to have to keep the pressure up at the top which is very tight. Still early days yet and plenty of time for someone to make a late run.............

As a neutral, that was a good game of football.
I can't actually believe QPR's side.
They are a Premier side who should be absolutely smashing that league.

How that side falls in with the fair play rules is beyond me. Their wage bill must be horrendous.

So well done to Foxy's mob.

The mighty Gills are starting to sneak up the league on the blind side.
With an extremely tough Xmas programme, 4 or 5 points will be great.

Hope every one gets what they wish for

Those pink shirts are a bit bright aren't they Barney? However I'd prefer your pink shirts to that awfully drab grey away kit we are using.

They were introduced a couple of seasons ago to raise a bit of money for breast cancer.
They sold like hotcakes so the club stuck with them.

To see huge, fat middle aged men squeezing themselves into these bright pink, lycra based shirts is a sight to behold in the stands.

Widnes Vikings sponsored a testicular cancer charity last year and for one game wore kit which was totally flesh coloured apart from a strategically placed fig leaf. Thankfully my team, Hull, sponsored H4H and sported a half decent camouflaged charity strip.
One day P&O will cruise out of the north.....

A big game today for the Terriers, who host by far the form team in the division...Derby.
The bookies have it at 11/5 Town win, 6/5 Derby win, and 12/5 the draw. If I can get around 2/1 at the ground then I may just have a flutter on Town - who have a habit of winning games like this. Just ask Burnley who came to us a few weeks ago expecting to win and who went home pointless.
We have actually been playing pretty well recently - though the stats show we have drawn one and lost two in the last three matches...I'm hoping the odds will reflect the recent results rather than our actual form.
Sunny here...so the Wally can leave his brolly on the bus...he'll need it to shield him from all the tears on the coach on the way home!

Well, the bookies' greed cost them a fiver! I was going to bet on a home win, but the odds were just short of 2-1 (what a surprise) so I kept my cash in my pocket!

A 1-1 draw with Derby...we were poor in the first half and Derby did look a decent side.

We were much better over the last 30 minutes, had what seemed a decent penalty shout turned down, then scored the equaliser on 86 mins...then their keeper made a great save in injury time to save them a point. Happy enough with a point, considering our performance over 60 minutes, but it really could have been all 3 (which would have been harsh on Derby).

Just for once, I had to agree with the "blue and white glasses wearing fans" around me...the referee gave us nowt, and was rather generous to Derby - but everyone can have an off day I guess.

For Derby, the lad Will Hughes looks a good player, but no-one else really stood out.... Mclaren has got them well organised and very hard working, which seems to be their strength. I would expect them to be in the play-offs at the end of the season.

I agree with most of Romig1's comments.we have got other players who do stand out but I guess they must have had an off day.
Good to see the foxes have a good result but how lucky are forest?
