Well, credit where it's due .....

Unread post by Boris+ »

In a rush of festive feeling I bought some icing equipment the other day, thinking that I could do some cupcakes and ice them and make them all nice and festive.

So, I made the cupcakes and got most of them iced (beautifully if I may say so too), but when I got to the last one I had to refill the icing pen - and it broke.

The equipment was made by a reputable and well known firm - I've used them before and never had any trouble.

So I just changed what I was doing with the final cupcake - and husband promptly quoted the Ricky Gervais thing (if at first you don't succeed, destroy the evidence) - and ate the blasted thing. Safely back in his lounge he quietly and sneakily emailed the manufacturer, and not knowing this I decided to do a slightly different decoration for the cupcakes on Wednesday and carried on regardless.

However, we've just had a delivery (well it came yesterday but went to neighbours as we were out) - a replacement from the manufacturer, plus quite a few other goodies from them!

What a smashing surprise! Undomesticated as I am, I think I feel some baking coming on! Many thanks to Tala!

Quite right too. The syringes are a bit fragile, I have found the icing bags more resilient. But whatever, enjoy playing with your new toy :D

Well done, Tala. That's how customer service ought to be.

Seeing as Stephen didn't give you his full address details, you'd better bring the surplus down to me. At least you know where to find me!

I have had the same icing set since I first married. It's now over 40 years old. It's called the Nutbrown de-luxe icing set. Ah they made things to last in those days. :D

I'm having great fun (busy trying to keep busy if you see what I mean) experimenting with these cupcakes - and himself keeps destroying the evidence, so it's a good team effort.

I don't get on all that well with an icing bag - I find a pen gives me better control over airlocks.

Oh well, after 25th etc next plan is for experiments with flavours of cake mix, injections of jam stuff and then icing etc to suit. So far I've thought of lemon curd, orange curd and pineapple jam - not at the same time, but hopefully they'll all be nice surprises!

However, it was good customer service.
