Aftermath
Well it's only Dec 29th and we've just taken out the tree. Don't usually do it until after New Year but it was dropping so much the ends of the branches were bare. It was a Norway Spruce which we always have. We bought it on Sunday 15 Dec and brought it in a fortnight ago tomorrow. We cut some off the trunk when we got it home and it sat outside in a bucket of water till we brought it inside. What we didn't do this year was to cut a little more off before bringing it in which we have always done before. Whether this made any difference I don't know. So all is neat and fairly tidy. The tree went out through the window which saved a path of needles through the sitting room. We did, however, have quite a pile where the tree had been. My husband sorted all that out while I put all the baubles etc. away - I think I had the best deal.
I have just stripped the remainder of the turkey and managed to find some mushrooms so it's turkey and mushrooms in a sherry cream sauce for supper. I think it was all worth it but it's a lot more exciting getting all the decorations etc. out than putting them away.
Apologies for any errors in this but until someone tells me how to go back and correct things on the iPad they'll have to stay, I can correct ones I spot at once with the back thing but how to go back to a different line I don't know. Still feels funny to take so long typing when I could touch type on a proper keyboard!

Let you finger rest on the cursor and 'magnifying glass' will appear. Leaving your finger resting on the screen you can move the cursor around. When you remove it you will get a choose which includes 'select'. You can then move the blue dots to enclose the text you wish to cut or move. If you shake the iPad then and 'undo' Option will appear.

What you have writ ,QB, just about sums up the difference between an iPad and a lap top; it is a very good description of the fiddle faddle you have to go through ……….. and I am not sure I can be bothered with the i Pad!!!!!. The DH loves the iPad….. and I have a MacBookAir…..far superior. Both were presents from our son who is an Apple fan.Quizzical Bob wrote:Let you finger rest on the cursor and 'magnifying glass' will appear. Believe it or not, for most peoples computing needs an Android tablet (or iPad) is more than adequate. They do have their quirks but the quickest way of sorting that out is to simply google and then practice.

I use my IPad all the time, and Lorraine uses her Kindle HD and IPhone, very rarely use our desktop computer or Lorraine's Laptop. As you say Ken I find the IPad more than adequate for my computing needs, just keep an eye on what you are typing, corrections are easy once you get use to it.Kendhni wrote:Believe it or not, for most peoples computing needs an Android tablet (or iPad) is more than adequate. As for decorations coming down, no way will Lorraine take them down before 12th night, I hate it when all the decks come down, everywhere looks so bare. I like to enjoy the Christmas break for as long as possible.
Happy New Year

Re: Aftermath
Just to answer MOB it was an ordinary Norway Spruce - the old traditional Christmas tree. I think when I was growing up there wasn't any other choice. I'm getting more used to my iPad - although I'm not using it now. I have learnt how to go back and correct things, I even managed to message my daughter on her iPad. Am gradually getting some Apps put on it. I will certainly take it on our cruise in March and hope that I can get some free internet connection in the various Caribbean ports.
