7 1/2 lb in the first week is absolutely fine especially if you have eaten and drunk more than normal in the 2 week period previously. The majority of the 7 1/2 lb will be water. If you only have 1 or 2 stone to lose the weight loss will settle down now to around 2 or 3 lb next week then 2 lb a week following that.

If you have an extreme amount of weight to lose you will probably find higher losses especially if you are adding lots of exercise to your dieting regime.

Well done Kaziebelle. Keep up the good work.

I've recently acquired a new set of (digital) scales which, hopefully, are more accurate. I weighed myself this morning (we're going away for the weekend) and I'm down to 12st 7lb. How much of that is actual weight loss, I don't know, so I'll exclude myself from this week's competition.

Hi Sue,

Having spoken to my wife who like kaziebelle has tried the Slimming World diet concurs with every thing you have said, indeed it is not unusual to lose the amount of weight that Kaziebelle has lost in the first week on this diet plan.

kaziebelle, a massive well done from me

l happend to trip over the scales this morning.....Oh what a pleasant surprise :D

Keith,
I have also tried slimming world. It only worked very briefly for me then I stopped losing altogether. It may have changed now but there were just too many free foods, and treat foods allowed each day that I after the first couple of weeks I was eating more than I used to do before going on the diet, hence the lack of weight loss.
Weight watchers was the same. That is why now I do my own thing as I found I was paying out a few quid each week just to be weighed.

My diet works for me but wouldn't suit everyone as there is little variety.

Weekend is always a difficult time but I am determined No Alcohol will pass my lips. I am hibernating so that I am not tempted. The bottles of fizzy water and sliced lemon are in the fridge so I can pretend I am drinking G & T.

Tonight I am making a low calorie Chilli which I will have with a side salad, tomorrow is a Hairy bikers adapted recipe for Tandoori chicken, served with roasted vegetables and Sunday is Hot smoked Salmon marinated in chilli and herbs served with roasted vegetables.

I might have to try that if I'm to lose a stone before our next cruise. That way my suffering will only be short term. ;)

does this mean that the much put upon Mrs Onelife doesn't have to tie your laces for you now?

Hi Keith, I have checked my weight this morning and I have lost 2 1/2 lbs this week so I am hoping it will encourage me to be sensible tonight when we go to our friends house. I am going to hop on the scales again in the morning to see how a Saturday night drinking and eating affects my weight. However, I do feel a lot more motivated to have a bit more self control and common sense for tonight without giving up everything.

Good luck pinchers for tomorrows weigh in.

Hi Maureen,

If you get to tomorrows weigh-in having lost 2lbs you should be delighted with yourself so get stuck in this evening and don’t worry if you put on a ½ lb. What is encouraging is that it sounds like you have entered the “I’m really going to do this zone” which is the place where we all need to be if we are going to achieve our desired weight loss.

Just think Maureen in 8 weeks time you’ll have lost over a stone (depending of course on how much you are aiming to lose) by which time you’ll be feeling physically better as well.

There’s one thing for sure you won’t be in contention for tomorrow’s salad spoon...I already know where that is going :shh:

Stay strong Pinchers and remember “fridge pinchers wear bigger knickers“

Well done Maureen

Friday night is always a difficult night to stick to a diet for me, so I am pleased to report that I DID IT.

Very boring I know but I chilled some small bottles of fizzy water, sliced lemon, ice and served myself pretend G & T s. I ate a very small portion of home made low calorie chilli with a side salad and went to bed early.

Now into Saturday and another difficult dieting day but the thought of weigh in tomorrow will hopefully keep me strong.

I know I could not keep this very strict regime up long term but for a quick fix before our cruise it is worth the pain.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

More sabotage in our household at lunch time today. We almost never eat crisps, but Sue had secreted a large packet away after Christmas and started eating them at lunch time. Naughty naughty, and naughty me for joining her! Stir fried salmon and veg tonight!!

I have managed to stick to the diet again today.

Tuna salad for lunch and tandoori chicken breast with roasted veg for dinner. No wine or any alcohol again. I cannot remember ever having a totally dry weekend since I was pregnant many years ago.

Question: Why is it when I have not been drinking I wake up with what feels like a hangover worse than when I have been drinking.

Hoping for a good weight loss tomorrow to make it all worth while.

I can feel my will power is waning. I need some motivational spiel now to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Hi Sue,

Are you drinking enough...Water?

Hi Pinchers, Have just seen a report about the "alternate day diet" which has been widely researched with good success. You have 500 calories every other day and eat normally on the alternate days. Apparently your stomach shrinks so you feel full quicker and you dont get the starvation response where your body lays down fat as soon as you sniff a morsel of food. Once you have reached your target you go onto 1000 calories alternate days to maintain you weight. Just thought it worth a mention just in case anyone might like to give it a try?

Frank, considering you have a one day cruise booked this diet sounds tailor made for you

Hi Keith,

That sounds similar to the 2:5 diet that both Chris and myself have been following. Men are allowed 2400 cals for 5 days and 600 cals for two non consecutive days, women 2000 & 500. Chris has lost 2st 6lbs and I have lost 1st 9lbs since September.

Keith don't give up the day job.lol

Went to bed early so I wasn't tempted to nibble. Hence up early and weighed in. Last Sunday at the official weigh in I had gained 1/2 lb from the day before. I am pleased that this morning not only had I lost the 1/2 lb but also another 2 lb.

Total loss now 10lbs with 3lbs to go to target. One problem is I am running out of time to lose it. Only 10 days to go before we set off to meet Arcadia in Los Angeles.

Hot smoked salmon planned for dinner tonight are we nearly there yet?

Good luck everyone?

Sue

Don't give up Sue because it is some of the things you have said that has encouraged me and given me a new attitude to losing weight. I weighed myself yesterday morning and because I had made a loss it helped me be sensible about our visit to our friends last night. I just had one large glass of wine instead of the usual two and I allowed myself one Tunnock Caramel Wafer because I love them. I found that helped and I didn't keep dipping into the chocolates/nuts and crisps that were there. I have put on a few ounces but not enough to demotivate me and so I think from last Sunday's weigh in to this weeks it is just over a 2lb loss. I'm happy with that. :D

Good morning pinchers,

Its time to get yourselves out of them saunas and jump onto them scales

After a terrific start last week my wife has succunbed to temptation and in doing so has put back on 3 of the 4lbs she had lost last week...l'm just hoping none of my other pinchers are in the running to pick up the not so coverted wooden salad spoon.

As you can appricate watching my wife tuck into crisps and pizza hasn't been easy, but not wishing to let the side down l have stuck with it and l'm pleased to tell you that l've lost another 3 lbs this week.

So who will be winning the coveted celery stick this week?

Regards

Keith

Sorry Keith, mine is up and down like a yo-yo so I am not making a judgement yet. Also we have Rotary Ladies Night Tuesday so we will be having a 3 course meal quite late in the evening.

Hi Frank,

Considering the amount you have lost on your previous diet you above all know what is required to shed those extra lbs....it's better to go up and down rather than up up and then down, one always has to look for the positives when on a diet, don't you think? :)
