I started reading the first two threads just now and wondered what the hell was going on. For a minute I thought I was on a different forum

Old Threads
May I respectfully suggest starting a new thread instead of racking up old ones from the dim and distant past.

Re: Old Threads
I totally agree Stephen. I've just read three threads when my addled brain realised that the posts were saying Jan 2013 which is very confusing. I'd much rather people started new threads. There's something of the same thing going on over at CC, very confusing!

I wasn't confused. I thought perhaps someone was trying to make a point.

I have no problems with old threads. Anyway, I always enter the forum through:
board index > view unread posts
There's an old Fred that operates the Hamble to Warsash ferry. I have no problems with him either

Re: Old Threads
Surely it's better to have an old thread resurrected than start another thread for the same topic?

Re: Old Threads
I suppose that depends Alan on if there is something relevant being posted that pertains to the old thread

Re: Old Threads
I thought they were interesting-ish BUT only to show us as at a year ago many, if not most, of the Members who left in a sulk a year ago ... seemed pointless to me and was probably some sort of childish mind game.

Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Re: Old Threads
I raised an old thread, (weekend away) but just cos I remembered I had posted about the hotel I was going to and had been back to at New Year. I didn't mean to confuse anyone.

Re: Old Threads
I agree with you Stephen, it is a bit confusing. Perhaps starting a new thread, with reference to the old one, would be easier for us confuseniks to cope with.

Re: Old Threads
Oh lighten up Moby that's a bit deep. More like somebody with a cheerful and frivolous outlook on life trying to inject a little humour into the lives of others. We could do with a few more cheerful people on here.Manoverboard wrote:I thought they were interesting-ish BUT only to show us as at a year ago many, if not most, of the Members who left in a sulk a year ago ... seemed pointless to me and was probably some sort of childish mind game.

Re: Old Threads
Surely if it wasn't relevant, it wouldn't be on the old thread. Take Sue's post about weekend's away - perfectly good example of an old thread being brought back into play!Dancing Queen wrote:I suppose that depends Alan on if there is something relevant being posted that pertains to the old thread
That's just my opinion anyway.

Re: Old Threads
I suppose it depends on what we as individuals see as relevant.
To post ... Quote: "Guess Flossie wasn't keen on the banter"
I don't see where that is relevant to anything other than Flossie hasn't posted for a year which of course is her prerogative but had anyone missed her ( sorry but I have no idea who Flossie is ) just my opinion others will have theirs.

Re: Old Threads
I am with you Stephen, I could not see the relevance of these old threads going back a year being resurrected.
With Sue, her thread was not too long ago, and although I read about her New Years stay at a hotel, I could not remember she had been there before in order for her son to photograph a wedding. So there was a relevance to it being resurrected as far as I was concerned

Re: Old Threads
So just when does an old post become and old post then? And why, once they have become "old", aren't they packed off to oldpostnottobecommenteduponagainville?
To say I am intrigued by the negative reaction to my innocently posting on old threads for a little fun is an understatement.

Re: Old Threads
To keep everyone happy, perhaps an 'old thread' title could be introduced titled 'Memory Lane'.
Just a thought.
