I, too, weighed myself this morning after last night's blow-out - 12st, 4lb 8oz, a loss of two and a half pounds!

I have weighed myself this morning and I am one lb down on last Saturday so that is my encouragement to be sensible when we go to my friends tonight. We both agreed that we felt much better last Sunday morning having only split one bottle of wine between 3 of us instead of the usual 2 bottles and as a bonus I didn't fall asleep halfway through the evening. They usually just let me sleep then wake me up when it is time to go home. As you can see, wine and me really don't go together - give me a nice cup of tea any time.
I've bought some Weight Watchers Caramel Wafers which are 78 calories each so I'm going to take 2 of those to eat so that I get my chocolate rush.

I don't feel that I am on a diet at the moment, just eating more sensibly and the weather was better earlier in the week so we walked into town most days.

Will weigh in properly tomorrow.

So pleased to see that Suekersh is so close to her target weight. Well done.

Unfortunately I suspect it's the only way I'll be 2 pound down this week as well.

I don't think I have lost anything this week - have lost a remarkable one pound since coming back from our cruise on the 12th January. Only another 13lbs to go!! Smaller portions are required and I have to cut out the coffee ice-cream!!

I've noticed that the old cyclejollical trick of putting your smaller portion on a smaller plate does actually help!

I think it is the pie and chips diet that my husband is following - then he wonders why he isn't losing weight !

I have just come home from a 65th birthday bash. Had to much Guinness and Buffet food than I should.

There is always next week. I'm a bit pickled at the moment.

Good luck tomorrow with the weigh in. Stay strong!

Well I wish I hadn't got on the scales this morning. Either I read them wrong yesterday or I was a pig yesterday because the one lb has gone back on and my weight loss since last week now stands at nil for the week.

Hope everyone else has done better than me. I suppose I will have to go back to munching those celery sticks.

That is exactly what happened with me last week Maureen, we had been to a birthday bash Saturday evening and I had eaten a big meal and drank lots of wine and when I got on the scales the loss was nil :o

Don't be disheartened I have lost 3 1/2lbs this week, I dieted Mon - Friday, yesterday I ate as I would normally and had a couple of glasses of Vino, it will be the same today then back on track Monday and hopefully a couple more pounds off next week.

These birthday parties are a pain  Had my grandsons 18th last night, far too much food and wine consumed and used my daily pro-points allowance plus 24 of my weekly "treats" extra points.. But agree not to get disheartened, as will be good today - not doing anything - and all next week so by weigh in day on Friday I hope to have lost another couple of pounds.....

Going down....finally...but very slowly. Walked miles yesterday along Poole prom and up Chaddesly Glen. Sunday lunch with Daughter and family today, roast pork, fruit crumble and custard on the horizon. Oh dear! I see an evening of starvation ahead.

potato wedges (serves 4):

3 medium potatoes (about 475g)
1 tsp sunflower oil
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp flaked sea salt
freshly ground black pepper

Slice the spuds into 8-10 long wedges and put in a bowl. Add the oil and toss lightly to coat all the wedges. Sprinkle with the paprika, salt and pepper. Cook for 25 minutes.

Chicken and ham tangle pie (serves 5 - 429 calories per portion)

2 tsp sunflower oil
1 medium onion finely chopped
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 medium leek, cut into thin slices
100ml white wine
150 water
1 chicken stock cube
1 kg whole cooked chicken
100g sliced smoked ham
2tbsp plain flour
300g half-fat creme fraiche
freshly ground black pepper

3 sheets filo pastry, each about 38 x 30 cm
2 tsp sunflower oil

Fry the onion and garlic for 5 minutes then add the leek for another minute, stirring continuously. Pour over the wine and 100ml of the water. Dissolve the stkc cube in the pan by squishing it with a wooden spoon. Keep simmering on a high heat and stir constantly under the liquire has reduced by about half, then remove the pan from the heat.

Strip off the skin from chicken (but everyone knows that most of the vitamins are in the skin.....) and tear the meat off the bones into bite size pieces. Place into a large bowl. Cut the ham into 1.5cm strip and add to the bowl Sprinkle the flour on top and toss lightly together.

And the onion and stock mixture, the rest of the ater and the creme fraiche. Season with pepper and still until all are just combined. Spoon into a 1.5 litre pie dish. Preheat the over to 200C/Fan 180C/Gas 6

Pile the filo on the work surface, one on top of the other, and divide into 9 rectangles, cutting through all the layers. Put the oil into a small bowl.

One at a time, brush each pastry rectangle lightly with a little oil and ery loosely scrunch it up. You'll need to just dip the tip of the pastry brush in the oil to make sure the oil lasts for all the pastry. Place the scrunched-up filo on top of the filling, putting the pieces close together until the surface of the pie is completely covered.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the pastry is crisp and golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Serve with green vegetables - no need to add extra potatoes or rice.

Minced beef and potato pie (serves 6, 335 calories each)

1 medium onion, finely diced
2 small carrots, peeled and diced
2 celery sticks, trimmed and finely sliced
250g lean minced beef (less than 10% fat)
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp brown sauce
1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp plain flour
1/2 tsp hot chilli powder
1/2 tsp dried chilli flakes (optional)
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
200g floury potatoes, preferably King Edwards or Maris Piper, peeled and cut into 1.5cm cubes
300 ml beed stock, made with one beef stock cube
75g frozen peas

2 x 145 packets of pizza base mix
about 200 ml lukewarm water
plain flour, for kneading and rolling
1-2 tbsp semi-skimmed milk

dry-fry the onion, carrots, celery and beef together in a large non-stick saucepan over a high heat for 2-3 minutes, until the beef is no longer pink. Keep stirring with a couple of wooden spoons to break up the mince.

Reduce the heat and add the ketchup, brown sauce, Worcestershire sauce, flour, chilli powder and chilli flakes, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute, then add the potatoes and stock. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and cover loosely. Simmer for 25 minutes until the potatoes are tender, stirring occasinally. If neceessary, removed the lid for the last 5 minutes and stir more regularly util the mixture is thick. Remove from the heat, stir in the frozen peas and leave to cool completely.

Put the pizza base mixes in a large bowl and mix with lukewarm water according to the packet instructions. Turn out on to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Preheat the oven to 200C/Fan 180C/Gas 6.

Using scales, divide the dough into 6 even portins - each will be about 80g. From each portion, take off 35g of the dough to use for the pick lids. Roll out the larger piece of each portion on a lightly floured surface until it is about 3mm thick and large enough to line your foil pie dish, leaving a little overhanging the sides. Life into a pie dish an press down well into the base and sides. this can be a little ticky first time round, but the dough is very forgiving, so take it slowly until you've got the hang of the method.

Spoon a sixth of the mince and potato mixture into the pie case. Brush the overhanging edges with a little milk. Roll out the smaller portion of pastry until it is large enough to cover the pie dish. Life it on top of the pie and pinch the pastry firmly together. Trim with kitchen scissors - using scissors will stop the pastry stretching. Repeat for the other 5 cases.

Place the pies on a baking dish, snip once in the centre of each lid with scissors to create a large hole for steam to escape. Brush the pies generously with more milk.

Back for 15 minutes, then remove from the over and cover each one fairly tightly with foil. Put them back in the oven for a further 15 minutes or until the pies are pale golden brown and the filling piping hot. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before removing the foil.

I'm finding this hard too. I can't believe that after over a week, of not eating biscuits , cakes or puddings I haven't lost any weight. :( I know I had a 3 course meal on Wednesday (including dessert) but surely I should have lost something? Do you think it was that packet of mixed nuts I ate yesterday. :(

You need to analyse what you are eating Emjay .... bread - potatoes - butter ??? I don't eat many of these anyway but have cut them out completely this week ( oh and the Vino of course until last night )

I think nuts whilst very good for you are high in calories, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

BTW love the new avatar

I will be good till Wednesday and hopefully it will come off by then.
