I’m pleased to see at least one member on this forum has taken the time to highlight the personal insults which have been cast in my direction, it’s just a pity Admin have failed to act on what is a blatant breach of our t&c’s??... I think you will agree that it is to my credit that I haven’t retaliated to the nasty comments made by “baldly” aka (Stephen) aka (Harry Hills stand in) who when off duty wears dark sunglasses so as to try and look like his mate Dirtypanties aka (DK) who doesn’t realise wearing his frilly nightie over his “I don’t like dressing up tattoos” isn’t kidding anyone ...sweetie!

My 9 pound gain was a failure as I was aiming for the full stone, but all the swimming and snorkeling must have taken a few pounds off??
Maureen, Keefy lard a*se needs constant motivation and tough love to keep him from ballooning back to his previous weight of 21 stone, his poor wife has spent the last 5 years putting on his socks and tying his shoe laces for him, has the poor woman not suffered enough??

I didn't do the weigh in yesterday as I have been getting a little disheartened myself. Anyhow I took the plunge today and finally, finally, FINALLY.........I've lost 2 pounds.

Researchers from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease have challenged the conventional diet guidelines that advise dieters to cut 500 calories from their diet a day to see steady weight-loss.

Researchers predicted that if a dieter slashed 100 calories from their diet a day, it would lead to a loss of just 10lbs in three years.
And 5lbs of that weight would fall off in the first year and the rest would slowly drop off over the next two years, due to a slow metabolism from constant calorie cutting.
According to NHS Choices, the recommended daily calorie amount for men is 2,500 and for women it's 2,000.
If you want to speed up your metabolism and drop those stubborn pounds, here are simple ways to do it:
Eat plenty of protein-rich foods. Research shows that around 25% of calories in a protein-rich meal may be burnt off. But make sure you choose low-fat protein foods such as lean meat, skinless chicken and low-fat dairy products.
Drink ice cold water. One calorie is burned when the body temperature is raised by one degree. This is because the stomach has to heat up cold liquid in the stomach, meaning the metabolism has to work harder and faster.
Go spicy. Adding spices to food increases the metabolic rate, as the heat from the spices keep the metabolism racing three hours after you've eaten them.
Eat breakfast. If you start the day on empty, your body goes into starvation mode, slowing the metabolism right down to preserve energy. Eating breakfast kick starts it for the day.

I have just got our chicken going. Its fricasee in the slow cooker, white wine/chicken stock/ oregano/ lemon juice/ mushroom and shallots. It wont be ready now until 3.3pm. That's what I get for starting late. Sue is sewing hence I am chief cook and bottle washer. When it is ready I stir in some low fat creme fraische and chopped parsley. Serve with potatoes cauli, and carrots......then sleep it off!!
Weather here is foul with heavy rain, and high winds. Poor little birds are hopping around in the shelter of our conservatory trying to eke out a living. I am now going out to sprinkle some food on the patio for them.

Hi Em, yes that is another nice dish, but as you say a bit calorific. At present we are trying to stop snacking between our early breakfast this morning and the eta for the fricassee. All the time there are two nice rock cakes in the tin. Positive thinking required!
Frank and Emjay - your meals sound delicious but tooooo tempting. Luckily my husband prefers very plain food like roasts, mince dishes and casseroles and the occasional salad so it hasn't been so hard for me to cut down for a short time. I am having smaller portions and cutting out too many potatoes and slices of bread and trying to increase my intake of vegetables and fruit. I would have to eat out to enjoy such wonderful meals like the ones you are enjoying. I despair in restaurants and on cruises when hubby chooses plain ice cream yet again for a dessert. It is also a standing joke with friends if we eat out that he will choose steak and ale pie or fish and chips.

That chicken fricasee recipe is really easy to do. I love cooking, and Sue and I share it because we both have time consuming hobbies so there has to be sharing. Our 9 year old grandson loves cooking too, he makes a mean chocolate brownie.
Another easy one and very filling is salmon and broccoli pasta bake. I am putting on weight just thinking about it.
