Thanks for clarifying sumdumbloke.

I think the operative word here is 'excessive'. Certainly I see no attempt to 'regularise punctuation' but, on the contrary, there are certain protocols which the forum wants to adopt. Basically the rule is asking members of the forum to write in a manner consistent with 'normal writing'. Maybe you are reading more into this than is intended.

My apologies if I misread you.
Thanks for the reply.

I was a bit tongue in cheek with my original comment. I do understand it's difficult to set boundaries but also recognise the need.

Back to the password issue. I find it contradictory that we are told (probably correctly on both counts) that a) we shouldn't use the same passwords/PINs for different things and b) we shouldn't write them down. Couple that with some sites forcing the use of capitals, lower case, number and symbols, and rejecting anything obvious and that leaves someone over 21, like me, whose brain cells started dieing off at birth, struggling. I use 58 (I just counted them) passwords and PINs to access various things and the task of remembering 58 different ones would be quite impossible. Therefore I adopt all three rules for my bank card PIN - i.e. I don't use if for anything else, it's not obvious, and I don't write it down. The rest are random - when I need a new one I glance around the room or think through what's happened that day and see what catches my eye as a prompt, and add some arbitrary numbers and/or symbols - so they are all different. And I write them down a piece of paper I keep at home. I reckon if a burglar broke in and had time to find the piece of paper and work out what it all meant the games up anyway. However, if my Avatar is ever changed to someone wearing a mask and stripey jumper you'll know I've been both burgled and hacked.

Please note the rules have been updated slightly. In particular a new rule (1u) has been added.

Following a concern that has been raised can I 100% assure all members that we have no intention in monitoring other sites looking for comments or trying to police anywhere but this site ... I don't think any of us would have time to do that.

All we are trying to do is close a loophole that is causing baggage from elsewhere to be brought onto this site.

Try going to the cog................Profile................Edit Account Settings.

I haven't done it myself but there is an option there.

Hope that helps.
