I can remember the graveyard/memorial when it was new at Aberfan - the families used to bring toys for Xmas and birthdays etc. There was a silence about the place; you may find it quite moving. All those little white arches.

I was 9 yrs old when it happened, it was announced in the school hall. I remember the head teacher crying, along with the other teachers. We all said prayers and sang hymns.We were all asked to bring a sixpence in for the disaster fund.
It haunted me for many years.
The pull to go and pay my respects has got stronger the older I get.
I imagine it will be quite moving.

I can clearly recall everyone joining in making cakes and sending them off to feed the volunteers.
