EU compensation ruling means higher fares, says Ryanair

(Unusually) I do have some sympathy with RyanAir on this. Similarly we all pay a nominal amount extra in our air fares to cover use of wheelchairs and other land side assistance etc. Surely the way forward on this is not to punish the airlines (when it is outside of their control) but instead pass the responsibility onto individuals to ensure that they have the correct insurance in place?

Well if air fares do go up then it will be the death knell of Ventura's venture into Europe.

I think Michael O'leary is fantastic ... he deliberately winds people and the media up .. and they are stupid enough to react ... it gets the Ryanair name splashed all over the media at which point he also gets his point across ... free advertising is always the best type.
