Re: pancakes: what is your favourite kind?
Yes, we most certainly will. Ours will be pancakes - not crepes!!
Half will be plain and the others will have currants in them (we think this originates from my MIL who came from the West Country). We will have golden syrup.
Do like orange juice also - not at the same time though, obviously.

Re: pancakes: what is your favourite kind?
Bit busy today - so just traditional pancakes. However, I do like a savoury stuffed pancake when time permits.
For special occasions, I made a load of pancakes, and then make a stack out of them, using a special filler inbetween the pancake layers. The most popular filler is an orange crème with Cointreau - they go down really well. After making the stack, put them in the fridge for a few hours, and cut the stack just like a gateau.

I adore pancakes but because we are away in 4 weeks - and away for almost 6 weeks - I feel I must avoid them for now. But rest assured, when on the QM2 I shall be requesting Crepes Suzette on several occasions

OH like pancakes, but not sweet ones...
SD and I like sweet ones AND savoury ones
JD hates pancakes...
SO we make a huge batch and split them in 3.
OH has all of his with a savoury filling - like canneloni - today it is chicken
SD and I have half with the savoury sauce and the rest for pudding with lemon juice and sugar
JD ( when she's here which she won't be today) has her share of the savoury sauce with spuds or pasta

Betty Croker ( ish ) American Pancake Mix with thick cream plus real Maple Syrup ... none of the granulated sugar and lemon nonsense for us.

Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Shrove Tuesday is always orange juice and sugar. The only savoury ones we eat are rolled with stir fry veg or gammon and chicken in a thick cheese sauce. When I do crepes I always serve them with a liqueur ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Just had our pancakes. Tonight we had blackberry vinegar on them but next time it will be Grand Marnier on them.
I was taught to be cautious

Re: pancakes: what is your favourite kind?
Like you, Dark Knight, I'm a bit of a traditionalist - soft brown sugar and lemon juice. For the two of us, I used a pint of milk, half a pound of flour and two eggs. Unfortunately, my wife could only manage 3 (and the pan was only 10") so I had the opportunity to experiment. Maple syrup and lemon juice was pretty good - try it sometime, D.K. and Tesco's Finest chocolate and hazlenut yoghurt was interesting. I think it was ten or eleven but it might have been twelve, straight from the pan - well, it's only once a year, isn't it?
And I came across a bottle of Blossom Hill white zinfandel left over from last Summer which went very well with them.

Re: pancakes: what is your favourite kind?
Sorry folks, I bought our pancakes ready made!!. We have them a lot and like lemon juice and caster sugar most of the time. For an extra treat sometimes we add fruit, strawberries or raspberries plus a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Calories? Nah!!!!!

Maybe so but I would prefer to go in a trice rather than slowly as a diabetic.Dark Knight wrote:heart attack on a plate Mobyplod?
We aim to avoid ' sprinkled on ' granulated sugar if at all possible ... no prob with alcohol and natural sugars however.
