Football

Unread post by Romig1 »

Thought I'd start a thread purely dedicated to football, as I'm sure some folks will get fed up of it being mentioned on other, unrelated threads.

I'll start it off by stating that my team is (unsurprisingly) Huddersfield Town...though given recent performances that could change any time soon!

I also have a very big soft-spot for Liverpool - having lived in the city as a student and visiting Anfield regularly during the glory years in the late 80's and very early 90's.

Also I watch for Reading scores, having lived there for a while and visiting (the now gone) Elm Park on a number of Saturdays.

Who's YOUR team?

Good idea Romig. This thread will spare the pain for those who have no interest in the beautiful game but will give the rest of us a chance to speculate, gloat, empathise or take the proverbial out of each other.

Looking forward to the Cup match next week but not going to say too much in case we end up with egg on our faces. I've already got my excuses. It should be a good game though and I see we have already sold out our tickets so should be a good following.

If anybody has not guessed my team is Leicester City whom I have followed since I wor a lad and although we have never won much and I don't live there any more I could never follow another team. As I always say 'I have followed them through thin and thinner' although the 90's were great when we went to Wembley more often than Manu.

Two teams, one lifelong and one because I live close. Lifelong is Sunderland (great result yesterday guys - and we're now 7 points ahead of Newcastle :P The second are the Super Reds - Nottingham Forest - who we were luck to watch during their glory days - seems like a very long time ago now :(

Point of order Lulu....Liverpool are the original and best Super Reds - not your second-rate imposters. :P

We were well glad to get rid, TBH.

I am a Manchester United season ticket holder, although Romig, I live 'twixt Dewsbury/Leeds/Wakefield so according to some I ought to support Leeds. Just about to settle down to watch Chelsea and my match is on later.

I am on the Roller Coaster of following Crystal Palace...Only one team for me.

Been a regular supporter at Selhurst Park for nearly 50 years and rarelt miss a home game (I am still thawing out after yesterdays match.)

We drew with Huddersfield. when everyone else thrashed the living daylights out of them but that's what being a Palace fan is all about, constant disapoinment, under achievment and enjoying the good times...like when we went top of the league a few weks ago (although we didn't keep on and on about that)

We wouldn't have it any other way.

Seems, PTE, that the buzzing Hornets will be meeting yourr lads on Friday Feb 8th, courtesy of Sky, so will it be revenge for you or a double for us would you say ?

On current form MoB then the 'Ornets must be favourite.

I am really disappointed that Sky are showing this.....They have deprived me of one of the few away games I attend...I will miss my visit to Vicarage Road this season....can't get up to Watford for an evening game, not after work...I'll go down the pub instead.

We are still stunned down at Southampton, don't get why Nigel Adkins was sacked.

That amazed me too John.

Even more surprising than when Huddersfield sacked Lee Clarke last year.

MOB, what's all this about your manager and Chelsea? I can't see it happening myself but who would have thought Appleton would go to Blackburn so soon after joining Blackpool. Three clubs in half a season?

I was shocked to see Nigel Adkins sacked, especially for somebody who appears to have little experience, let alone none of the Prem. It's a very strange appointment.

We are adapting very well to the Prem, 2 nil down at Chelsea to draw! We think there was something behind the scenes.

Mr Adkins is a nice guy, it is said, if true then the Southampton Board will doubtless believe they need somebody who does not wish to be seen to be one of the boys ... longer term.

Foxy ... Mr Zola has a contract with the Udinese Mafia so he will be going nowhere 8-)
