Hi QB,

What has sometimes happened in the past - let's say it's a formal night, ok - all passengers get the daily newspaper, and mostly those who don't speak English get a daily paper in a language they understand.

It seems that some passengers just either don't read or can't read - and somehow get away with going wherever they wish without upholding the dress code.

So, I've seen people in shorts and tee shirts in bars and entertainments when they should have been in formal attire. If these passengers were simply going to Kings Court or en route to the Lido - fine, but that wasn't the situation.

Hi Boris+,

You must have been unlucky, we have never come across such people. On Aurora, for example, only the two MDRs, Anderson's and the Crows Nest have the dress code restrictions and they are firmly enforced. To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen anybody in shorts and T shirts in the evenings after 8:30. There may have been some people returning to their cabins from the upper decks or the pools earlier than that and you do sometimes see a clash of styles around 6:00 pm.

But surely if the dress code only applies to a limited number of venues then these other passengers are not 'blatantly ignoring the dress code'? If, for example they choose to eat in the buffet or a casual dining outlet, then have a drink in the a Terrace Bar and then take in a show in the theatre what is there to be offended about?
Nothing.

The people who decide not to wear formal attire on formal evenings but still wish to go out and about, from what I've seen, look perfectly neat and tidy in their smart casual clothes.

They might stand out a bit, as they will be dressed differently to the majority, but they are enjoying their holiday in their own way, which they are entitled to do. They are not doing it as a personal insult to me, so it's no business of mine what anybody else wears.

Hi QB,

What happened - on several occasions was firstly not at 'change over' time and secondly was not on a P&O ship. The attitude of the people involved left a bit to be desired.
