Cordless Lawnmowers

Unread post by Jan Rosser »

Does anyone have first hand experience of cordless lawnmowers? I have two lawns to cut - one at the front of the house and the other at the back which is reached via three steps so the mower will have to be lifted up to that level. As careful as I try to be I have run over the lead of the mower several times and have to use an extension which is another nuisance. Any help or advice appreciated

They're ok if you have a cordless lawn :)

I have not had any experience with cordless lawnmowers but my experience with other cordless equipment would lead to believe that they would not have the power that an electric/petrol mower would have and I would also be concerned about how long the battery would last before a recharge and how long it would take to recharge it - nothing worse than having to mow the lawns "by instalments"

We've got a petrol one which would probably be a bit too heavy to lift but I remember Bosch cordless mowers had great reviews - and you could always buy a spare battery so no worries about finishing the lawns in one go.

Before you buy, check the price of a replacement battery. I was given a cordless hedge trimmer but the battery was duff. It would cost almost as much as a new trimmer - and some come with a spare so you can charge one and use the other.
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
