Re: Council Tax
Come back MM please and answer the above! I was a Parish Council clerk from 1994 until I retired in 2004. Mine was a very small rural parish, consequently I was paid a very small salary. I still write the Parish Newsletter (voluntarily and unpaid). However the current Clerk is now paid bi-monthly, the amount I received annually!!!! I can't imagine any Clerk working for nothing. The job has been made so complex and time consuming. In the larger parishes it is now almost a full time job.Dancing Queen wrote:Meg 50 wrote:sharp intake of breath...david63 wrote:I suspect that most of the cost for the Parish Council is to pay the Parish Clerk (a job which in my opinion should be voluntary)

Re: Council Tax
I was having my ears lowered this morning and somehow got onto the subject of gardening with Graham who cuts my two hairs. He mentioned that where he lives he has to pay £6 to use his recycling centre to dump his rubbish!
Never heard of that before. I think there would be several council lynchings if it was introduced round our way with the amount of council tax we pay.

If they tried that round here then all the rubbish would be dumped on the steps of the council offices.Stephen wrote:I was having my ears lowered this morning and somehow got onto the subject of gardening with Graham who cuts my two hairs. Re: Council Tax
Had our Bill today. Considering that 3 years were static and last year saw an increase of £1 per month (£10 per year), we now have an increase of £4 per month (£40 per year) = 1.8%.
Can't complain.
We have regular bin collections and do not have to pay extra - yet

Re: Council Tax
That's interesting Jean because ours haven't been static, I've been sorting paperwork today so just happened to have all our bank statements to hand and looked back to 2010 ours have increased each year, I assume that must be because we come under NEDCC and not the Borough Council.Jean W wrote:Had our Bill today. Re: Council Tax
I think we've been lucky - the situation hasn't increased over the past 3 years, and we've just had our new bill today which shows about £10pa increase.
Considering the weekly refused and recycling collections I suppose we can't complain really.
