More culinary news from Dark Towers: Chinese tonight

As it Friday and we are both a tad fatigued from the weeks work, we are on Chinese tonight

so , again, what is your favourite and why
tonight is sweet and sour chicken, crispy shredded beef, soup, spare ribs and rice, plus won tons

I don't miss the original DK much....but his culinary reviews were a tad more upmarket than the bat pests posts.

...Though back on topic I am partial to sweet and sour chicken with fried rice.

We have found that Chinese food has gone right down the tubes over the years so we make our own.

Our favourite is Chicken and Green Pepper with Black Bean Sauce served with Special Fried Rice .... and a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc of course.

We only have starters and puds when we have visitors

We only have a Chinese takeaway occasionally, as it's one of the more expensive options.

We don't eat a great deal these days, so in order to get some variety, we tend to order more dishes than we need and only eat part of all of them. The remainder goes into the freezer for a quick microwaveable meal in the future. We don't save rice however, so we generally order soft noodles instead.

but it is weekend and I can't be bothered cooking and neither can Lady D

I prefer an Indian to be honest...I like spicy, something with a bit of an ooomphhh....and I like the popdums, pickles and different breads you can get with a 'ruby'...Chinese is a tad boring and about an hour after I've eaten a takeaway, I'm hungry again...Curries seem to freeze better as well but that might just be me.

Chinese I can do myself..a good stir fry and some chicken, duck or pork, bit of fresh ginger, a bit of garlic and add one of them stir fry sauce things , chucked together in a hot Wok with a bit of oil....easy peasy...I like 'green dragon' sauces but there are loads of different ones avaiable...delicious.....only takes about twenty minutes, quicker than going down to the local Chinky.

Catching the early morning bus to town this morning, we were very amused when a delivery lorry pulled up and left six cases of Pal with marrow bone jelly on the doorstep of our local Chinese Takeaway

I've eaten in a lot of Chinese restaurants in Liverpool, London, and Manchester (and my Great Aunt was Chinese) however the best by a country mile was Mr Chow's Eating House in Parkgate:

It may be a tad cold when it arrives Moby. Unless they employ DK as a delivery driver It is amazingly good food though and have just reminded Mark that we need to pay them a visit again soon!
