DD and DH used to wash my old car but my new one is a bit bigger so it'll be going to a nearby hand car wash who do a fab job and it doesn't cost very much either.

The first time you experience the hand-job car-wash can be disconcerting.... all of a sudden the fellas open your door in order to clean the sills, but you think you're about to be mugged!

I don't have that problem as my car door's always locked so he has to knock on the window for me to unlock it ;)

Had to laugh - it takes about half an hour to clean the car. How long does it take to drive to your local car wash? Then wait for it to be done. Not much in it I would think. We don't have a car wash in our village, so I would certainly have to drive to find one even if I wanted to.

Fortunately I pass 4 hand car-washes and 2 drive throughs on my journey to/from work. The drive-through (at £1.99) takes about 5 minutes out of my schedule. The hand-job does take longer...about 10 mins max. Still a heck of a lot less time than a DIY hand-job!

I usually go to the car wash en-route to going somewhere else, I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to do it!

Debs, I've got the "druggie" big alloys on mine....probably would take 1/2 hr per wheel to do them properly. I find that a regular grazing on the kerb keeps the muck off!

The good thing about the hand-job-car-wash is that there are so many of them doing the car at the same time, it gets done so quick & it's such a good job :D

... & mine's only a likkle Peugeot 207

Never wash the car myself these days, always take it to a local garage, where they have team of at least 12 cleaners, mostly Bosnians, they do a great job. Car thoroughly washed and waxed, carpets inside and boot hoovered. Dash board and doors inside cleaned, Windows cleaned inside and out, wheels cleaned and tyres blackened and a free air freshener , cost me a tenner, well worth it.

They have a queue nearly all day long, 7 days per week.
Just like we have couple villages down the road too - always have to join a queue but there's that many of them (yes Eastern Europeans too) that they just get car done so quickly - great bunch of chaps as well, very friendly and thoroughly do their job - costs £5.

My car was last washed in 2011 .. and only then because we were going to a wedding or a funeral (can;t remember which). Is that not what rain is for? That time it was a hand-job and a few days later when I actually inspected the car they had put scores on the bonnet, boot and side panel ... I am guessing a small stone must have got onto the sponge they used.

A friend of mine gets one of his employees to wash his car every day.

The owner of the print firm I work for found one of the labourers washing my MD's car and threatened to sack her if it happened again.

You can't have your daughter taking advantage of the workforce can you?

Most of the time the I'll wash the car. It doesn't take that long, even putting the Karcher on it from time to time. Can usually use the same bucket to wash the bike as well. In winter though, I'll put it through a car wash every now and then. Reading some of the prices for hand-jobs, though, I might look into that.

Mine's a company car. It cleans itself. And I can get almost anything into it!

Thought I posted on this topic yesterday must of pressed wrong button

Last car I had was a blue Ford Cmax in three years I had it probably I cleaned it 6 times

Now I have a cherry red car and just love the colour I take pride in keeping it clean and hate it when it gets muddy

I like to wait and see if coast guards are having a fund raising car wash they do a great job and its a well deserving cause
